本機構希望透過南丫島的自然環境及現有島上的漁民文化，讓在生物鏈頂端的人類，跳出都市的水泥圍牆、冷氣的房間及冰冷的螢幕框框，體驗大自然的能力及在原野中求生的能力，也在自然環境中學習感悟、學習自己去看、去聽、去聞、去感受、去嘗試，驅使他們在未知的環境中闖蕩、體驗及培養獨立自主的能力。
