Asian Cultural Council Hong Kong Supporting cultural exchange in the arts between the U.S. and Asia and amongst the countries of Asia.

The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) is the only organization in the world whose sole mission is to support cultural exchange between the United States and Asia and within the countries of Asia. Headquartered in New York city, the ACC maintains offices in Hong Kong and Tokyo with partner Foundations in Manila and Taipei. Grants are awarded for research and creative projects across a wide spectrum of t

he performing and visual arts, and across both traditional and contemporary concentrations. Some grants are also made to educational and cultural organizations engaged in projects of special significance to Asian-American exchange. The ACC is both a grant-making and grant-seeking organization, raising funding from corporate, foundation and individual donors in both the United States and Asia.

Karen Yu’s research will focus on how organizations of different scales collaborate, sustain artistic production, and cultivate audiences open to experimental or unfamiliar listening.  Insights into these curatorial strategies and listening-focused experiences will inform her curatorial practice and efforts to develop inclusive, accessible listening spaces and approaches.  
  
As the Artistic Director of “Contemporary Musiking Hong Kong”, Yu initiated “Push the ENVELOPE”, a sound art education program, and curated four sound festivals at Tai Kwun Contemporary, presenting interdisciplinary sonic art, performances, and installations.

✨ Introducing 2026 ACC Hong Kong Fellow: WANG Qizheng, Director, Choreographer, & Researcher (Mainland China)

Wang Qizheng holds a PhD in Dance Studies from Shanghai Theatre Academy, an MFA in Choreography from Beijing Dance Academy, and a BA in Dance from Beijing Normal University. He is a Deputy Director at Shanghai Dance Theatre. 
 
His practice focuses on the relationship between body, movement, drama, technology, and contemporary visual culture. In 2026, he served as writer and choreographer-director for “WuBot“, the CCTV Spring Festival Gala performance featuring robots and human dancers. 
 
Through the ACC New York Fellowship, Wang hopes to expand his research on interdisciplinary performance, AI-era body practices, and the future development of choreographic methodology.

汪起正，擁有上海戲劇學院舞蹈學博士學位、北京舞蹈學院編導碩士學位，以及北京師範大學舞蹈學士教育背景；現任上海歌舞團事業發展部副主任。 
 
汪氏的藝術實踐關注身體、動作、戲劇、科技與當代視覺文化之間的關係。2026年，他參與央視春晚跨界武術節目《武bot》的編劇與編導工作，探索機器人與人的互動可能。 
 
透過ACC紐約獎助計劃，汪氏希望拓展其關於跨學科表演、AI時代身體實踐與編舞方法論未來發展的研究。

Liu Tian, Executive Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art and Social Thoughts (ICAST, the Curatorial Studies Program) at the China Academy of Art (CAA), conceives curatorial education as a form of social thought. By researching curatorial pedagogical mechanisms both within and outside U.S. academia, he aims to rethink and reform current curatorial curricula in China, while fostering opportunities for future academic collaborations and sustained cultural dialogue with U.S. counterparts upon his return to China. 
  
In addition to his role at CAA, Liu is a curator and writer. He is the founder of the Open Matters Institute, based in Hangzhou.

Alex Yiu will research New York’s experimental and q***r music scenes to develop an on-site perspective on underground music cultures and DJ communities, with a focus on music-related experimental, electronic performance practice by q***r artists. 
  
Yiu holds a MMus in Sonic Arts from the Goldsmiths, University of London and a PhD in Creative Media from the City University of Hong Kong, with a thesis on experimental club music scenes in Shanghai. Yiu's creative work explores q***r themes, language, and performance practice through music, video, sound, writing, and performance.  
  
姚少龍，音樂藝術家及 DJ（香港）

ACC Hong Kong - Hsin Chong Foundation Young Architects Fellowship, in partnership with the American Institute of Architects Hong Kong Chapter 
  
Through the three-month research fellowship in Kobe, Japan, Yau Kit Sze Jessy will participate in diverse on-site activities, including the surveying of abandoned houses; hands-on learning related to regeneration and revitalization models; and interviewing peer professionals and local residents. They will receive mentorship from Prof. Tetsuya Yaguchi of Waseda University. 
  
A graduate of The University of Hong Kong’s Department of Architecture, Yau currently manages heritage conservation outreach initiatives for a Hong Kong nonprofit. Yau’s work spans architecture, spatial research, and participatory observation, focusing on the climate crisis, political economy, and local cultural impacts on communities and ecosystems. 
  
邱潔詩，建築師（香港）

Christie Hei Yuen Wong will investigate the influence of socialist realism on photographic practices and image-making in twentieth-century China, starting with a search for primary source materials that inform the impact of propaganda photographs and related objects.  
  
Wong holds an MA in the History of Art from the University College London, and an MPhil from The University of Hong Kong, with a thesis on the aesthetics of photo-reportage in early Mao’s China.
