GCP 2026 Service Activity S2 Recap – Kindness in Action with ImpactHK

Our GCP students took part in a meaningful Kindness Walk with Impact HK, where they learned about the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness in Hong Kong.

The session began with an introduction to Impact HK’s work and the realities of homelessness, followed by a walk where students distributed supplies and connected with people in need, including street cleaners and elderly community members.

This activity reminded us that small acts of kindness can make a difference in someone's day.

EWB-HK just concluded it's annual collaboration with My Place Myanmar!

As a part of this collaboration, EWB-HK volunteers, mostly from the Global Citizenship Programme (GCP) create and present a series of workshops relating to STEAM topics to MyPlace, a charity based in Myanmar, that provides a shelter, education and living accommodation to children affected by the civil unrest in Myanmar.

This year led by A***n Jauhari, EWB-HK presented a series of workshops to two houses under MyPlace Myanmar.

Thank you so much to the GCP 2026 volunteers, GCP alumni, and other volunteers for stepping up and being part of the incredible effort to create and present the seminars this year. The topics this year were "Soft Skill Training", "Southeast Nation Asians" and "Music and Sound Engineering". The variety of the workshop topics reflects the versatility of our volunteers, taking on challenges well outside their academic focus. Likewise, we would like to extend our appreciation to the students for giving us their time and focus, and the coordinators from My Place, including Sandra, Michael, and Raymond Lopinski for helping arrange the workshops this year!

We look forward to next year, creating even more exciting and ever more impactful workshops for MyPlace and beyond!

🏠GCP 2026 Service Activity S1 Recap – Connecting with the Community: Home Visits in Sham Shui Po

As part of the GCP experiential learning journey, studentrs visited families in Sham Shui Po to better understand the challenges faced by grassroots communities in Hong Kong.

Through guided sharing and discussions with the Sowers Action SSP Service Center, students learned about the realities of urban social services and community needs. The activity also allowed them to reflect on how empathy and understanding are essential foundations for meaningful community engagement.

We are grateful to Sowers Action SSP Service Center for welcoming our students and providing valuable insights into their work supporting families in the district.

🌍GCP 2026 W4 Workshop Recap - Understanding Social Inequality through SDGs

We successfully completed Workshop 4 of GCP 2026 in January with an inspiring experience exploring the social dimensions of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the session, students learned about key issues including inequality, social inclusion, and poverty, and reflected on how community service projects can address real social challenges. Through interactive discussions and sharing, students were encouraged to think critically about the social impact of engineering and community work.

Thank you to our instructors and facilitators for guiding this meaningful conversation.

GCP 2026 Service Activity (S4-1) Recap
Countryside Conservation Services to K*k Po Lo Wai – Pre-visit

On 17 January 2026, our GCP students joined Service Activity S4-1, a pre-visit to K*k Po Lo Wai as part of the Countryside Conservation Service stream.

🏡 The journey began with a beach briefing, self-introductions, and a recap of previous project work. This helped students connect past learning with the site they were about to explore.

👣 Walking through the village, students experienced K*k Po’s Hakka heritage first-hand — visiting Kai Choi School, traditional Hakka architecture, and the exhibition centre. The visit allowed students to observe, ask questions, and reflect on the relationship between culture, history, and countryside conservation.

Thank you to all students and helpers Ruby Ng, Chirstine, John, Jenit Pun, A***n, Ali, Michelle and Terence Chan for participation. Your engagement made this service activity a meaningful start to our work in K*k Po.

We look forward to continuing this journey together. 🙌
