The 2026 EurILCA Europa Cup ESP wrapped up a few days ago in Los Alcázares, Murcia, Spain, with over 200 sailors competing across the ILCA 7, ILCA 6, and ILCA 4 fleets. 🇪🇸

The full race schedule was completed, and sailors enjoyed a week of solid, reliable wind conditions that made for fast and competitive racing.

Hong Kong was represented in the ILCA 4 class across both the boys’ and girls’ fleets, delivering a series of strong results: ✨

• Tiago Salgado – 9 / 122 overall, 2nd U16 Boys, Gold Fleet, Bullet Race 6

• Cyrus Yung – 30 / 122 overall, Gold Fleet

• Zixi Huang – 7 / 99 overall, 2nd U16 Girls, Gold Fleet

• Ivy So – 27 / 99 overall, Gold Fleet

• Jolin Zheng – 60 / 99 overall, Silver Fleet

The team is now taking a short rest before the start of the 2026 ILCA 4 Youth European Championship & Open Trophy, which will also be held in Los Alcázares from 12–18 April. ⏳💪

Well done to all sailors for their great performances at the Europa Cup, and best of luck as they continue their campaign at the Europeans next week. 🙌🔥

The 2026 ILCA Youth Easter Meeting concluded yesterday at Fraglia Vela Malcesine, Italy, following four days of international competition. ✨

Hosted on the northern shores of Lake Garda from April 1–4, the regatta featured over 300 competitors across the ILCA 4 and 6 classes. The venue delivered its signature conditions—strong breezes and steep chop that tested tactical minds and hiking legs alike. 👏

Well done to HKSI sailors, Charalampos Velianitis and Samuel Tan-Hardy, who represented Hong Kong in the large and highly competitive ILCA 6 fleet. Both sailors performed consistently throughout the qualifying series to secure their places in the Gold Fleet. 🥇

They finished the final races yesterday with the following results:
Charalampos Velianitis: 29 / 171
Samuel Tan-Hardy: 68 / 171

Good luck to them as they continue their training in preparation for further upcoming European events this summer. 💪

Good luck to Team HKG for the final day of racing at the Princess Sofia regatta in Palma, Spain! 😀💪💪

The annual HKLCA AGM took place earlier this week at the RHKYC, Kellett Island. A big thank‑you to all members who attended and contributed to a productive evening.
We opened the meeting with the presentation of the ILCA Cubes to the winners across the various classes and divisions from the Nationals held in January. Only two sailors — Xavier Wilde and Tiago Salgado — were able to receive their cubes in person, while parents and committee members accepted the awards on behalf of the other sailors who could not attend.
The AGM continued with the re‑election of the committee, a review of the association’s finances, and a look ahead at the upcoming ranking event calendar.
Overall, the conclusion was clear: 2025 was a strong and successful year for HKLCA, marked by successful events, growing membership, and a stable financial position.
Thank you to all our members for your continued support. Here’s to another exciting and positive year for ILCA sailing in Hong Kong! 🙏😀🇭🇰
