元朗街坊十年例醮勝會肇始於一九二三年（癸亥），源遠流長，每隔十年建醮，醮事者，祈福以祀者也，所以酬謝神恩以期賜福，感於天地神明，闔境平安，獲庥降祥，百業興盛。
