On 17th August, CEO Prof. CHAN led GX colleagues and 24 youth students on a visit to the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (OCMFA) in Hong Kong, where they exchanged views with Deputy Commissioner HUA You and other office members.

Counsellor of the Policy Research Department of the OCMFA, QIN Hong, introduced key topics including China's diplomatic policies and the Belt and Road Initiative, while analyzing the current international relations landscape with the participants. This provided everyone with in-depth insights into the latest developments and theoretical knowledge in diplomacy. During the visit, the students also shared their humanitarian work at the Cambodia-Thailand border and field research experiences in Timor-Leste, recounting touching stories of putting "people-to-people connectivity" into practice.

GX expresses its gratitude to the OCMFA for its long-standing trust and support, which serves as a solid backbone for our humanitarian aid efforts in Belt and Road countries, while providing invaluable learning opportunities for young participants to broaden their international perspectives.

19th August marks World Humanitarian Day, a day to honor humanitarian workers worldwide. On this special day, GX hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Day at the global headquarters. Chairman, LEUNG Chun-ying, alongside HUA You, Deputy Commissioner of the Commissioner's Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR, presented certificates of appreciation to 57 volunteers who participated in overseas humanitarian aid over the past year.

The awardees encompassed retired volunteers, student youths, and individuals from various sectors of society. Among them, several young volunteers traveled with GX to project countries such as Timor-Leste and Cambodia this July to conduct community health education, distribute relief supplies, and perform public health assessments, bringing "people-to-people connectivity" to life through concrete actions.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all sectors of society for their unwavering support and look forward to rallying even more strength to together advance the humanitarian cause!

We’re honoured to see our Youth Ambassador Programme featured in the South China Morning Post! 📰✨

This summer, 22 students from Hong Kong and Macau travelled to Timor‑Leste and visited local families. They helped promote safe drinking water and vector-borne disease prevention, while experiencing firsthand how clean water, health education, and medical care are closely connected.

More than just volunteer service, this was a journey of "people-to-people connectivity". The students gained a deep appreciation for the humanistic care behind medicine, inspiring them to reflect: "Knowledge is only half of what it takes to be a doctor; the other half is heart." ❤️

"I can now cook and walk all by myself without any problem and can even finally see my grandchildren with my own eyes. I'm truly grateful to GX and the medical team who performed the surgery for me!" said Norbongvue, an elderly man living in Nantonou village, Luang Prabang, Laos. He is 118 years old and is the oldest beneficiary in our "Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme" in Laos.

In the past, he had been blind for over ten years due to cataracts in both eyes and relied on his bare hands to feel the world and make a living. Our project was established at Luang Prabang 107 Military Hospital three years ago and Norbongvue underwent our free cataract surgery for both of his eyes with encouragement from his family, despite he was afraid of surgeries. In these three years after the surgery, he has regained his clear vision on the world and managed his daily life with ease. Recently, the team visited his home and reaffirm that his vision remains excellent after the surgery; What is touching is that the family still keeps the card from Norbongvue’s previous medical visits, remembering the warmth they received.

GX has completed ten cohorts of projects across Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and Champasak provinces in Laos, accumulating nearly 6,000 free cataract surgeries. Seeing patients who benefited three years ago still have clear vision and live with dignity is the greatest motivation for us to keep moving forward.

In late July, GX led six interns deep into a border camp in Pursat Province, Cambodia, to distribute emergency relief supplies to 50 displaced households, becoming the first NGO to carry out relief operations in this camp.

The operation stemmed from an on-site inspection in early July by Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying and CEO Prof. Emily CHAN Ying-yang. Recognizing the severe local public health situation, they promptly organized this relief initiative.

During the operation, GX distributed water purification buckets equipped with filter elements, folding beds, personal hygiene kits, anti-mosquito supplies, and approximately 54 kilograms of food to each household, providing on-site instructions to ensure proper usage. Additionally, we donated 20 mosquito lamps to the middle school located in the camp and provided rapid test kits to surrounding health centers, comprehensively enhancing local sanitation and epidemic prevention capabilities.

On July 27, GX also conducted a special seminar on dengue fever prevention and control at the Cambodian PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd., raising health and defense awareness among nearly 40 employees.
