We are thrilled to share our monthly party with a captivating Jungle theme held in June! 🗓️🌟

During sensory story time, our learners were transported deep into the jungle, experiencing the sights, sounds, and texture of the jungle right in our centre! 📚🌿 As part of this immersive experience, they even got to taste a variety of tropical fruits, adding a delicious twist to their journey through the jungle. 🍍🍌

Everyone had a blast and enjoyed every moment, capturing the fun in our jungle-themed photobooth with jungle friends - creating memories to last a lifetime! 📸🌟

The highlight of the day was our delectable jungle-inspired feast, where every dish resembled a playful jungle creature - a true feast for the eyes and taste buds! 🐒🍃

A special shoutout to the incredible Avengers group and ABBA/Greenday group for not only leading the event with enthusiasm but also joining in on the fun! 🎶🦸‍♂️ Their involvement truly made the party extra special. 🌟

Stay tuned for our next monthly party too!🎉🌿

Avengers group was invited as a temporary docent in the art exhibition held in HKU for two days!

They showcased wonderful art pieces created by our learners in The Nesbitt Centre.
By introducing and explaining the artworks created by themselves to visitors in HKU, our learners could enhance their self-efficacy and social skills.
Also, it was able to enhance the awareness of social inclusion and acceptance of people with disabilities in Hong Kong by receiving comments from the visitors about the art exhibition.

Thanks to Arya, the intern who arranged this art exhibition for our learners!

Kay Rawbone presented with BEM medal

Last week, Kay Rawbone, former Operations Director at The Nesbitt Centre, was presented with the British Empire Medal (BEM) by Brian Davidson, Consul General Hong Kong.

Presenting the award, Brian Davidson, congratulated Kay on receiving the BEM for Co-founding Sailability Hong Kong with her late husband, Mike Rawbone, in 2009. He said the BEM award is “for meritorious civil or military service worthy of recognition by the Crown”.

Addressing those present Kay said when Mike and her started Sailability they were advised to start with people who had a physical disability, but Kay decided they would start with a special needs group from The Nesbitt Centre. Two of that group of four were present at the BEM award celebration.

Kay went on to pay tribute to the many people who have contributed to the success of Sailability over the years.

It was a landmark day for Kay, with many friends and supporters from Sailability and The Nesbitt Centre present at the Consulate to celebrate the special occasion with her.

Sailability HK provides sailing opportunities for the disabled, less abled, and educationally challenged. Since its inception, over 17,000 sailors have taken part in their programmes!
