1st Yalambar Archery Competition is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 17th November, 2019. The event aims to revive Archery, a traditional sport in the past and reinstil the culture back into the Nepalese residing in Hong Kong, especially the youth.
Archery, an art, sport or skill is one of the oldest arts still practised in the world. It has evolved over thousands of years from a survival and hunting weapon to now, a well-known form of Sport. Evidence of ancient archery has been found throughout the world including Nepal.
Hunting, both on foot and on horse, Nepalese archers were once prolific with a bamboo bow and arrow. Then came progress and it slipped back into rural life and out of the mainstream. It is now slowly, finding its way back into the society but it’s still missing out on making deep connection to the youth of today.
