In August, Street Law Hong Kong once again collaborated with Simmons & Simmons, Hong Kong Bar Association (Standing Committee on Young Barristers (YBC) of HKBA) and Standard Chartered (SCBHK)
in organizing the “Thinking about Law” Summer Impact Lab - Legal Research Competition!
Around 40 students from 8 competing school teams joined the competition to research and present findings on trending socio-legal topics, including:
🎤 Criminal law: Establishment of a sentencing council for criminal sentencing
🎤 Date privacy: Legal protection against deepfakes
🎤 Copyright law: Text and data mining exception under the new Copyright Ordinance
🎤 Tort law: Legal protection against educational negligence
Participating students also had a chance to take part in various thematic Street Law interactive workshops to learn about the fundamentals of legal principles in these areas of laws to guide them on their research.
All these are only possible through the contribution from our team of dedicated 20 corporate volunteers from S&S, HKBA and SCB, who passionately shared their expertise and insights with our students.
