Trail Bois in Nepal

We are Alex Crossley and Jason Cooper, known locally in Hong Kong as the Trail Bois.

We have been thinking about a daring and challenging race for a while and when we came across this 3-day stage race in Nepal, we knew we couldn’t pass it up. It is a race that presents a unique challenge due to its altitude (ranging from 1000m (3280ft) - 3800m (12467ft) above sea level), as well as the element of running over consecutive days. It will be taking place in one of the capitals of trail running, the Annapurna mountain range in Nepal. The race will take place over 3 days, covering an average of 26km (16 miles) each day.

The idea to use this race to raise awareness and money for a worthy cause seemed to follow naturally. We also didn’t have to think long and hard about which organization we wanted to partner with.

The charity we have chosen is called RUN www.runhk.org. They are a non-profit organization that works to rehabilitate refugees, predominantly women, in Hong Kong through sport and education. These people have fled their home countries due to civil, political and environmental crises and have come to Hong Kong looking for a better life for their families. The hard truth is that Hong Kong is a very challenging place for refugees for a number of reasons. RUN is using the power of running to Rebuild their mental and physical health, Unite as a community and with the local Hong Kong community and Nurture each other through sport, food, friendship and education. The organization has mentorship, leadership, sports and educational programs all aimed at giving refugees the tools they need to live a productive and meaningful life.
