Does looking more human really make a robot more advanced?

In his latest contribution to Oriental Daily, Dr. Angus Yip, Founding Chairman of ICSD, explores a thought-provoking question: should technological progress be judged by how closely machines resemble humans, or by how effectively they improve the way we work?

The future worth looking forward to is not one where machines become like humans, but one where humans no longer have to work like machines.

ICSD is pleased to establish an annual donation programme for five consecutive years with CCC Kei Chi Secondary School (中華基督教會基智中學), supporting and recognising students who demonstrate outstanding performance and positive values.

Each year, 30 student prizes will be presented across six areas:

What does the future of ESG talent in Hong Kong look like?

At International Chamber of Sustainable Development 國際可持續發展協進會 - ICSD's latest ESG × AI Education & Career Survey, we found several encouraging trends:

📊 68.3% of respondents rated themselves as having a good knowledge of ESG—an increase from 41.2% in 2023.

💼 More than 93% believe ESG knowledge is beneficial to both their current work and future career development.

🤖 72.7% see AI as playing an important role in the future development of ESG, with many believing AI can accelerate ESG data analysis and improve strategic decision-making.

📚 While only 48% have attended formal ESG training, 82.7% are interested in pursuing ESG training in the future, reflecting strong demand for continued professional development.

At the same time, the survey highlights that SMEs and micro enterprises continue to face cost challenges in implementing ESG, reinforcing the need for greater collaboration among government, educators and industry to build ESG and AI capabilities.
