What does the future of ESG talent in Hong Kong look like?

At International Chamber of Sustainable Development 國際可持續發展協進會 - ICSD's latest ESG × AI Education & Career Survey, we found several encouraging trends:

📊 68.3% of respondents rated themselves as having a good knowledge of ESG—an increase from 41.2% in 2023.

💼 More than 93% believe ESG knowledge is beneficial to both their current work and future career development.

🤖 72.7% see AI as playing an important role in the future development of ESG, with many believing AI can accelerate ESG data analysis and improve strategic decision-making.

📚 While only 48% have attended formal ESG training, 82.7% are interested in pursuing ESG training in the future, reflecting strong demand for continued professional development.

At the same time, the survey highlights that SMEs and micro enterprises continue to face cost challenges in implementing ESG, reinforcing the need for greater collaboration among government, educators and industry to build ESG and AI capabilities.

Reflecting on a Meaningful Milestone

ICSD was honoured to celebrate our 5th Anniversary with the ESG Education & Career Survey Results Press Announcement cm Forum on 10 July 2026, bringing together leaders from government, academia, industry and the ESG community to explore the theme "ESG × AI: Education & Career Development in Hong Kong."

We were privileged to welcome Mr. Joseph Chan, JP, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, as our Guest of Honour, alongside distinguished speakers who shared valuable insights on the future of ESG, artificial intelligence, talent development and sustainable finance.

During the event, ICSD also released the findings of our latest ESG Education & Career Survey, which highlighted the growing importance of ESG and AI skills for career development, while underscoring the need for stronger support to help SMEs and micro enterprises embrace sustainable transformation.

The event concluded with a thought-provoking forum discussion featuring Dr. William Yu (CEO, World Green Organisation), Ms. Miranda Kwan (Director, SGS Hong Kong Limited), Mr. Ashley Ip, Dr. F.C. Tsang (Environmental Consultant, Aurecon), and Dr. Mike Hui (Founding Vice Chairman, ICSD), who explored how ESG and AI are reshaping the workplace ecosystem and the opportunities and challenges they present for organisations and professionals alike.

It was a pleasure for our Founding Chairman, Dr. Angus Yip, to visit 天恩食堂 (Grace Canteen), a social enterprise run by Dr. Byran Wong.

Grace Canteen supports the community through meaningful initiatives such as the 「愛心飯盒」 programme, providing meals to elderly people in need. Dr. Yip also enjoyed their delicious cold milk tea during the visit. 👍

As a supporting organisation, ICSD was pleased to support the HK01 AI Transformation Solution Day 2026. We congratulate HK01 on the successful organisation of this event!

HK01 AI Transformation Solution Day 2026 Highlights

The second HK01 AI Transformation Solution Day was successfully held earlier. The event opened with an opening address by Prof Sun D**g, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government, delivered via video, and was officiated on site by Mr Daniel Cheung, Commissioner for Digital Policy (Acting) of the HKSAR Government. It brought together representatives from the government, business, academic, and research sectors for more than 20 keynote speeches and panel discussions exploring the development of AI in business strategy and practical implementation. With content closely aligned to corporate
transformation needs, the event attracted a large number of industry professionals and members of the public, with some attendees lining up outside to enter the keynote and discussion sessions.

An exhibition was also held at the venue, where more than 30 exhibitors showcased technologies and equipment such as embodied intelligent robots, agentic AI, and smart collaboration systems for business leaders and the public to experience. The event successfully served as a business-matching platform, not only facilitating direct dialogue between technology suppliers and the business community, but also helping the industry identify potential cooperation opportunities more precisely.
