REMINDERS FOR AIRLINE PASSENGERS ✈️

The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) and the Office for Transportation Security (OTS), in coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), are reminding passengers traveling through Ninoy Aquino International Airport and other major airports in the country to strictly observe rules on prohibited items in hand-carry baggage.

Passengers traveling with infants may bring baby formula and breast milk exceeding 100 ml only if these are declared at the security screening checkpoint for further inspection.

Authorities also reiterated that liquids, aerosols, gels, sprays, and similar toiletry items exceeding the allowable limit are prohibited in carry-on baggage. These include contents of pressurized containers, such as:

• Shaving foam and other foams
• Deodorants
• Cosmetic oils
• Hair and shower gels
• Lotions
• Toothpaste and other pastes
• Perfumes and sprays

These items must be placed in checked baggage if they exceed the permitted limit.

Authorities emphasized that any LAGs (liquids, aerosols, and gels) in containers larger than 100 ml are not allowed in hand-carry or cabin luggage, even if the container is only partially filled.

Local airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia Philippines follow CAAP guidelines, which use watt-hours (Wh), rather than milliampere-hours (mAh), in determining power bank limits.

Passengers may carry up to two power banks below 100Wh in their hand-carry baggage without prior airline approval. Power banks exceeding 100Wh require approval from the airline.

Meanwhile, prohibited items such as fi****ms, toy guns, flare guns, paintball guns and their components, disguised or improvised fi****ms, stun guns, electronic bug zappers, knives, blades, and other sharp objects are only allowed in checked baggage and must be accompanied by the necessary permits and documentation, when applicable. | via Rudy Santos

MFMW Response to SCMP on article on MDWs resting in Public Areas

The Mission For Migrant workers (MFMW) refers to an article of The SCMP (https://www.facebook.com/share/18iavauJTi/) on tents being used as shelter by migrant workers on their holiday. It is unsurprising, but definitely disappointing.

This is unsurprising, as the Mission For Migrant Workers, in our 2025 Service Report, highlighted that 2 out of every 5 migrant workers handled by the Mission For Migrant Workers do not have their own private room. The results also reported that 2 out of 5 do not have their own private room for rest. Also, 1 in 25 suffer from stress-related health issues, and 1 in 20 suffer from abuse.

The MFMW has been long advocating for a live-out option for migrant domestic workers. We believe that having private accommodation is the right of all humans, including workers and migrant domestic workers. However, it is unfortunate that this right is not recognised and is being criminalised in Hong Kong.

It is disappointing, because in a time when we as a city are still recovering from the Tai Po fire, when we as a people admired the migrant workers who could not leave their wards behind in the fire, when we as a community rallied with them for their needs, the working and living conditions of the migrant workers here have remained the same. Migrant domestic workers are being restricted from having their own living space and being exposed to overwork and exploitation.

We need to do better to show our respect to this migrant workforce. We can sustain the appreciation we showed for migrant workers in the aftermath of the fire by addressing their needs and promoting their rights.

The MFMW is committed to sustaining the empathy and action demonstrated after the Tai Po fire by translating concern into concrete improvement.

We call for concrete changes that respect migrant workers’ dignity, safety, and freedom to live with privacy and autonomy. Hong Kong can only be truly inclusive when every worker is valued and supported.
