السلام عليكم ورحمة الله
Dear Respected Brothers and Sisters,
The Jami’yyatul ‘Ulamaa (Guyana Muslim Scholars Association) extends warm Ramadan greetings to the beloved members of this community. Ramadan Mubarak to each of you.
We urge you to make this Ramadan the most significant one yet, as it could be our last. Consider how many have returned to Allah since the last Ramadan.
The Quran and Hadith offer abundant guidance, and we share a few reminders with you:
• Allah says in the Quran, “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous” (Quran 2:183). Let us embrace fasting as a means to attain righteousness and deepen our connection with Allah.
• The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever fasts during Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven” (Sahih Bukhari). Use this opportunity to seek forgiveness and purify your heart.
• Ramadan is a time for self-reflection and self-improvement. Strive to eliminate negative habits and cultivate positive ones, focusing on patience, gratitude, and sincerity in your worship.
• Engage in acts of charity and kindness. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The best charity is that given in Ramadan” (Tirmidhi). Share your blessings with those in need and strengthen the bonds of community.
• Strengthen your relationship with the Quran. Dedicate time each day to recitation, reflection, and understanding its meanings. Let the Quran be your guide and source of inspiration throughout the month.
• Encourage and support one another in acts of worship. Allow your sisters time to engage in prayer and recitation, and avoid placing unnecessary burdens on them, especially if communal Iftar and meals are provided.
• Fasting is an exercise in self-discipline. Be mindful of both your physical and spiritual well-being, and avoid excess. Moderation is key to maintaining a healthy balance.
• Maintain harmony and focus on seeking Allah’s pleasure, forgiveness, and paradise. Avoid disputes and keep your heart centered on the ultimate goal.
May Allah bless you with a Ramadan filled with barakah, forgiveness, and abundant reward. Ameen.
