The opening ceremony of the 51st KASTORIA International Fur Fair was held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 18:00, with the blessing officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan of Kastoria, Mr. Kallinikos.
The ceremony was attended by the Member of Parliament for Kastoria, Ms. Maria Antoniou, the Vice Governor of Kastoria, Mr. Dimitrios Savvopoulos, the Mayor of Kastoria, Mr. Ioannis Korentsidis, the Mayor of Argos Orestiko, Mr. Panagiotis Kepaptsoglou, and the Mayor of Voio, Mr. Christos Zeuklis.
Also present were representatives of political parties, local government authorities, military and security forces, as well as representatives of professional organizations and institutions, exhibitors, furriers, and members of the public, highlighting the enduring importance of the exhibition for the fur industry and the local economy.
As part of the ceremony, honorary awards were presented by the President of the Kastorian Fur Association, Mr. Akis Tsoukas, to individuals recognized for their significant contribution to the fur industry and their support of the Association’s work.
More specifically:
An honorary distinction was awarded to the Family of the Founder of the Kastoria International Exhibition Center, Heraklis Kallisthenis, as a mark of honor and recognition.
A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Konstantinos Kranias, Mr. Christos Papadopoulos, Mr. Stergios Tsoukas and Mr. Christos Tsoukas, in recognition of their long-standing contribution to the industry.
A Lifetime Achievement Award was also presented to the Family of Georgios Gliagias, in recognition of their long-standing contribution to the industry.
An award was presented to Mr. Athanasios Batsopoulos for his long-standing contribution and his role in promoting the fur industry.
An award for cooperation and support was presented to Mr. Leonidas Pouliopoulos, as a token of appreciation for his significant contribution and support.
The 51st KASTORIA International Fur Fair continues to serve as a key international platform for the fur sector, strengthening the global presence of Greek fur craftsmanship and fostering new business opportunities.
