~Time: 15 minutes one way.

~he car park here was recently tripled in size. but we visited during Easter break and it was overflowing on to the Road.

Whites Road entrance (Full Experience):

~Time: ~1.5 hours one way (3 hours return).

Toilets: There are four operational toilets: one at each car park, one along the track, and one at the Blue Spring itself.

Dogs & Bikes: Both are strictly prohibited on the walkway due to proximity to farm stock and wildlife.

Drones: Flying drones is not allowed.

Accessibility: The track is generally well-maintained but is not wheelchair or stroller friendly due to steep sections, stairs, and pedestrian swing-gates.

Interesting Facts

The water takes between 50 and 100 years to filter through the underground aquifers of the Mamaku Plateau before emerging at the spring.

This long transit time naturally removes nearly all light-absorbing particles, resulting in water with high optical purity. Pure water is intrinsically blue because it absorbs red (long-wavelength) light, leaving only blue and some green light to be reflected back to the eye.

Because it is some of the purest water in the world, it supplies approximately 60% to 70% of New Zealand's bottled water.

Regardless of the season, the water maintains a constant temperature of 11°C (52°F).

Summer school holidays done right – Mornington Peninsula edition

Based in Seaford, we’ve been rediscovering just how epic the Mornington Peninsula is with teens in tow.

No long road trips, no airport queues – just coastal magic right on Melbourne’s doorstep

One of our absolute highlights?
📍 The Pillars, Mount Martha – dramatic cliffs, turquoise water and that wow factor even teenagers can’t scroll past.
Add golden hour, salty hair and a glowing beach sunsets, and suddenly everyone’s present (yes, even them 😉).
This is your sign to slow down, explore local, and make summer memories that don’t need a passport. From cliffside walks to sunset swims, the Peninsula hits that sweet spot of adventure + chill, especially for older kids.

Thank you, 2025 🤍
Thank you for the moments that made us laugh out loud, and the ones that quietly reshaped us.

For the days that went exactly to plan, and the journeys that didn’t — but taught us more.

Thank you for sunsets chased with tired kids, cancelled flights, packed suitcases, full hearts,
and lessons we didn’t know we needed.

The happy moments reminded us why we travel.

The not-so-happy ones reminded us why it’s all worth it.

Because life isn’t about a perfect itinerary —
it’s about the memories made along the way, the growth between destinations, and the stories we’ll carry long after the bags are unpacked.

Here’s to every step, stumble, and laughs that made the journey meaningful.

Onward to whatever comes next 🌍✨

Happy 2026 everyone 🥳🎊

This is a post on food in Meteroa, Greece.
Food pics, when I had the patience to take photos of them 🤣

We loved the options in town of Kalambaka where we stayed during our time here. We would buy some food items from town as we walked up to the clifftop monasteries every day. We packed water as well.

There are many bakeries and restaurants in town . Also you can find some cosy home restaurants run by family along some of the village hiking paths. We loved them the most. We ate at one home restaurant, where the mum was cooking and grown son served homemade food. We loved finding out about their life and their story of this place.

Tips:
* check Monastery open days/times before you hike to visit them.
* you have to cover your knees and shoulders to enter the Monastery, so take a shawl or use one of their own at the entrance. Note; you have to pay a fee to enter each Monastery.
*make sure to take some food and drinks on your hikes as there are no food options at the top near the monasteries
* wear good hiking shoes as most paths are not paved
* look up as you hike up from town, for amazing views
* have fun looking at plants and spotting birds or turtles (yes we saw one).

One of the monasteries we visited during our time in Meteora was The Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron. The largest monastery open to public to visit in Meteora.

You can actually take a bus to the entrance gate which you get off on the opposite hill and climb up the many stapes to reach this magnificent monastery. To be honest the climb up to the monastery was not that bad.

You can easily spend a few hours in the monastery, visiting the many rooms and museums and also taking in the views of other clifftop Monasteries in the area.

I can’t tell you how special this place feels, I guess you just have to find out when you visit 😉.

We highly recommend this place to anyone, as this place is one of those very special places with a very unique feel.

Just check the dates and times the monasteries are open to public. They all are functioning monasteries, and you have to make sure you adhere to their dress codes. Take a shawl to coverup if you visit in summer.

Memories from Mt Cook National Park in New Zealand.

I don't think I could have zoomed in this much if I used my smart phone back in 2010. This was taken with my very basic Nikon which I still have. i love how it captured the sun glistening on the snow/ice on the mountain top.

*Fact: Aoraki/Mt cook is the tallest mountain in New Zealand with a height of 3724m above sea level.

When you can see sunsets like this…
Golden sandy beaches…
What more would you want to enjoy the school holidays with kids

We are so lucky to see such beautiful beach sunsets all around Victoria. This is only 1.5hr away from in

Shallow waters for young kids to play and others to enjoy water activities like paddle boarding or fishing.

Camp grounds and town nearby.

Our travel style has changed quite a bit recently.

We used to travel very slow when the kids were younger. But now we can do intense travel with them.

What I mean by this is we can now have a full blown itinerary for a day which can be filled with lots of sightseeing, experiences, trying out new food plus lots of walking.

No need to have lots of playground breaks anymore. In stead it’s a sit and have a cooling refreshment or ice cream and then start again. And the exploring times are longer. We can start early and finish late.

Traveling with and can be fun if the kids are into travel as well.

We have lots of fun trying to make it to all the places each of us pick for the day and then talk about what we thought about the day over a meal.

So different to when they were little. So much more fun and less down time when overseas. Better value for the money we spend travelling ( especially now when flights are very expensive).

This photo: from Boracay was our rest after an intense time in Osaka and Kyoto, Japan.

So when you do intense travelling it’s important to build in down time either at the same destination or your next destination.

In Boracay, we just relaxed and enjoyed the beach and the hotel pool. Lots of room service and short walks to eating places. Did not want to do any other activities.
