DASH Dogs Dream Of A Safe Haven

DASH Dogs Dream Of A Safe Haven 🐶 Rescuing, feeding and saving stray dogs in Greece The shelter is run entirely by volunteers and is totally dependent on donations. Thank you very much indeed!

There are many healthy dogs at the DASH Dogs shelter who are looking for their forever home, including a huge number of unwanted puppies who have been abandoned or born on the streets. We are always in desperate need of help to feed the dogs, to provide veterinary and medical care and to ensure that there is enough comfort, shade and shelter for the dogs. It Takes A Village 🐾 https://dash-dogs.com

Every month, the lovely John and Margaret Bird arrive at DASH with gifts for the dogs, supplies for Katerina, and little handmade treasures from their grandchildren to help us raise funds locally.

And honestly, these acts of kindness mean more than we can ever properly explain.

When you are caring for hundreds of dogs, facing emergencies, heartbreak, endless food bills and never quite enough hands, it is very easy to feel alone.

Then people like John and Margaret quietly turn up.

With food.
With supplies.
With thoughtfulness.
With support.
With love.

And suddenly everyone’s spirits lift a little — the volunteers, Katerina, the team… and yes, the dogs feel that too.

Because every act of kindness helps keep this place going.

So today we just want to say a huge thank you to John and Margaret Bird for their continued generosity, kindness and support.

We truly couldn’t do this without people like you. 🤍

And if you live in the Kalamata area and would like to support DASH in any small way — whether that’s food, blankets, supplies, fundraising items, volunteering, sharing our posts or helping us spread the word — please know that it all matters.

More than you know.

Because DASH really does take a village.

And we are so grateful for ours. 🐾

The Heart of Dash 💙 https://dash-dogs.com

During our recent team-building dinner in Greece, Katerina stood up to speak to the volunteers, helpers and the English Dash team.

It was also a night of celebration — one of our wonderful volunteers had a birthday — but in the middle of the laughter, food and togetherness, Kat reminded us why we are all really here.

She spoke about the dogs.

About the ones who are abandoned, abused, forgotten, ignored.

About the fact that technically, this suffering is “not our problem” — and yet somehow, for the people around that table, it is.

Because we choose not to look away.

We choose not to be part of the masses who turn a cold shoulder because it is easier, more comfortable, less painful.

We choose to do our bit.

As young people, as volunteers, as animal lovers, as human beings — we choose to be different. To care when caring is inconvenient. To step in when others step back. To believe that even if we cannot change everything, we can still change something.

And that is how change begins.

Not always with grand gestures.

Sometimes it begins with one person feeding one dog.
One volunteer cleaning one kennel.
One adopter opening one door.
One supporter sharing one post.
One team refusing to let compassion go quiet.

That is why Dash exists.

Because every dog who has been failed by people deserves to meet people who will not fail them again.

And every person who chooses kindness becomes part of that rescue.

This is the heart of Dash.

And we are so grateful for every single person who carries it with us. 💙🐾

Adopt Celine 🐾 https://dash-dogs.com

Little Celine arrived this morning… all alone. 🐾

Just two months old, tiny Celine was found by herself with no mummy, no siblings, and no way of surviving the streets on her own.

At her age, she should be curled up beside her mother, tumbling around with her littermates, learning how to play, sleep, trust and simply be a puppy.

Instead, she was out there alone.

We are so grateful to the kind local people who found her and brought her safely to us, because a puppy this small would have had almost no chance alone on the streets — with no food, no protection, cars passing by, and so many dangers she is far too little to understand.

Celine is the sweetest little soul. She looks a little forlorn at the moment, as if she is still wondering where everyone has gone, but already we can see her soft little spirit beginning to come through. She wants to play. She wants to trust. She wants to be loved.

For now, she has to stay safely in our puppy area while she is checked, vaccinated and given the care she needs. Puppies are so vulnerable in a shelter environment — they cannot simply run freely with the bigger dogs, and they need extra protection while their little bodies grow strong.

DASH is a much safer place than the streets. Here Celine will have food, care and love.

But a shelter is still not a childhood.

No puppy should grow up behind gates if there is a warm home waiting somewhere in the world.

Celine deserves to know what it feels like to curl up on someone’s lap. To sleep in a soft bed. To have nourishing food, gentle hands, toys, walks, safety, and a family of her own.

She is only two months old, so she has her whole life ahead of her. She is young, trainable, sweet-natured and ready to blossom into the most wonderful companion.

Please help us find Celine the happy ending she deserves.

We adopt all over the world.
To enquire about adopting Celine, please email [email protected] or DM us here.

And if you cannot adopt, please share her story. One share could reach the person who has been waiting for her. 🤍

Karelios……
