👉Students at the Kalloni Vocational High School had the opportunity to attend an innovative and interactive presentation by 25 volunteer veterinarians and veterinary assistants from the TNR Lesvos program, in celebration of World School Animal Welfare Day.
🐾The event was organized at the school’s own initiative, as part of the “Active Citizens,” in collaboration with the Department of Stray Companion Animal Management and the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning of the Municipality of Western Lesvos, and with the assistance of the animal welfare organization GaGa Animal Care, based in Eressos.
➡️The volunteer veterinarians presented to the students the philosophy and process of the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program, namely the trapping of stray animals, their sterilization, and their reintroduction into their natural environment
📌During the highly engaging presentation, cages and veterinary tools were used, and a demonstration of the trapping process was conducted. This interactive approach made the experience more understandable and immediate for the students, bringing them closer to the concept of animal welfare and giving back. Through the presentation, they understood the importance of responsible management of stray animals and the active role that society can play in their protection.
👉At the same time, it was noted that spay/neuter campaigns will continue in the coming period in Agra, as well as in other areas of Western Le**os, reinforcing the systematic efforts being made to address the issue.
🗣️The Municipality of Western Lesvos remains steadfastly committed to every initiative that promotes animal welfare and volunteerism and expresses its heartfelt thanks to TNR Lesvos and the animal welfare organizations for their substantial and ongoing contributions, proving that through collective effort, we can build more humane and caring communities for everyone!
