HOPE worldwide PNG Joins Health partners to review the PNG TB Caucus Advocacy Plan.

HOPEww PNG participated in a high-level workshop from March 16-20 to review the 2023–2024 Advocacy Plan for the PNG TB Caucus.
With 46,000 Papua New Guineans suffering from TB annually, the message from the National Department of Health is clear: this is a national emergency. It will take an "all-of-society" approach and immense political will to STOP TB in PNG.

The PNG TB Caucus is currently a volunteer-led committee, driven by parliamentary leaders who are making TB a top priority:
● Chair: Hon. Powes Parkop, Governor of NCD.
● Support Champion: Hon. Robert Naguri, Member for Bogia District and Chair of the Special Parliamentary Committee on Health Matters.

Governor Parkop spoke passionately about the burden of the disease in the capital. He announced NCD’s bold plans to institutionalize the response by building a dedicated TB Hospital/Center with the ultimate goal of eliminating TB in NCD. He challenged stakeholders to develop a realistic, costed strategy that can be implemented effectively.

Hon. Naguri also shared the progress of TB response efforts within the Bogia District, demonstrating how local leadership can drive change on the ground.

Mr. Warren Entsch, Vice President of Global TB Caucus, reminded us of a simple but powerful truth: TB IS CURABLE. He emphasized the importance of:
1. Diagnosis: Ensuring every citizen knows how to access testing and treatment.
2. Citizen Advocacy: Our right and responsibility to inform elected leaders about the reality of health service delivery.
3. Media Influence: The vital role of the media in capturing the attention of decision-makers.

As a member of the Global TB Caucus network, the PNG TB Caucus is a powerful mechanism to inspire political will to end TB. HOPEww PNG is proud to stand with our leaders and key partners to ensure that every Papua New Guinean has access to TB services and live healthy, productive lives.

Standing Together Against Violence in PNG 🕊️

From March 9–12, 2026, HOPE worldwide PNG staff joined clinical teams and faith leaders in Port Moresby for a workshop addressing Gender-based violence (GBV) and Sorcery-accusation related violence (SARV).

Organized by Christian Health Services (CHS), the event served as a call to action for faith-based organizations to lead the way in creating safer communities.

Key Highlights:

A Unified Front: Reverend Arua Morea (PNG Council of Churches) reminded us that violence "disturbs peace, hurts, disables, kills and prevents the growth of our church"

The EDEN program by CHS will be rolled out in communities as a community-level service delivery tool to address GBV and SARV at the ward level.

Frontline Faith: CHS staff shared powerful stories of using faith to de-escalate conflict and broker peace on the frontlines of conflict areas.

This workshop was supported by the PNG-Australia Law and Justice Partnership Community Justice Project.

Strengthening Partnerships for a Healthier PNG!

HOPE worldwide PNG (HwwPNG) recently met with the team at Christian Health Services (CHS) to reinforce our vital partnership.

As an associate member of CHS, HwwPNG plays a crucial role in health service delivery in the National Capital District and in Simbu Province. This partnership is about more than just cooperation—it’s about ensuring sustainable health service delivery is provided through:

Strategic Funding from Government through Department of Health : Support for essential staff positions.

Professional Development: Conducting staff inductions to maintain high standards of care.

Accountability: Governance oversight and transparent reporting to the National Department of Health.

CHS CEO, Mr. Ulch Tapia welcomed our team with a powerful reminder that good governance is the backbone of effective service delivery. He reaffirmed CHS’s commitment to providing continued technical support and called for an even stronger alliance as we move forward together.

We are excited to deepen this collaboration to better serve our communities and support to achieve Papua New Guinea’s health outcomes🇵🇬

HOPEww PNG turns 32 years old on February 23rd, 2026!!

A message from HOPE worldwide PNG Board Chair Ms Julie Hulama to all HOPEww PNG Staff:

THANK YOU for your undivided service.
To those who are working in the administration and on the frontline in the clinics, our community mobilizers and friends of HOPE, Without YOU, we will not be able to deliver lifesaving programs and the most crucial services to our people.

February is a special month because HOPE worldwide Papua New Guinea turned 32 on February 23rd .

HOPEww PNG was established as a faith-based organization in PNG out of a mobile caravan at 9-mile across the road from the old show ground now an aquaponic farm with a staff of 3.

Indeed, the organization has survived many seasons and is still standing because of God.

On behalf of the Board, We would like to thank staff of HOPE worldwide PNG, our partners, HOPEww Global , HOPEww Australia, NDoH, Christian Health Services, NCDC, National Youth Development Authority, NCD PHA ,,Simbu PHA, East Sepik PHA, East Sepik Provincial Government, Central PHA, World Vision, FHI360, Lamana Hotel, Crown Hotel, Direct Relief, Digicel Foundation, Sir Brian Bell Foundation, PNG Customs, Global Fund, USAID, International Churches of Christ, and many important stakeholders over our 32 year journey of serving PNG.

This month, I had the pleasure to visit our two clinics and was humbled by our clinicians and their heart of servitude. HOPEww PNG is a resilient local NGO and is part of a Global HOPEww network. The staff and volunteers' service matters. You all contribute to Bringing HOPE, Changing Lives. This is not just a slogan. It is our heartbeat.

In the spirit of unity, I am reminded of
1 Corinthians 12:12

"There is one body, but it has many parts. But all its many parts make up one body."

No matter what your role is, you are an essential part of this "one body”.

Happy 32nd Anniversary !🌟🎊
