It Takes a Village Africa est une organisation non gouvernementale engagée dans le développement communautaire, l'éducation et la promotion des valeurs citoyennes en Afrique. ITAVA was founded by Fatu Kollie in 2010, just a few years after coming to the United States as a refugee. Many others in her position are not so lucky, and this is what made Fatu so passionate about helping her fellow Guinea
ns. Consumed by her belief that every Guinean child should have a right to education and a chance to escape poverty, she set out on ambitious humanitarian efforts to establish a safe house for the street children of Guinea. In this house, children are provided for, fed well, entertained and educated in the local government operated school. Today, supported by her own family funds and funds from friends and well-wishers, ITAVA operates a residential for 26 taken off the streets, orphans, and those with no one to care for them. They are housed in a secure and safe environment where they are fed, provided for, and educated. A support staff of 4 tend to the needs of these children and the facility operates, 24/7, 365 days a year. These children, aged between 2 and 14 years, need your support in every way that matters. From shoes to writing materials to books to play toys. We also need to purchase computers to support their education. Our objective is to raise $20,000 in the next two months in order to maintain our operating budget for the next years. Our short-term objective is to provide a wonderful Ramadan party for these children and take them out to the city - a short holiday from the remote village where they spend nearly all their time. Please, donate generously using our Paypal and other accounts. Nothing is ever too small, nor too big. Fatu Kollie
