Seedy and Omar rescued these two Belgium lads recently. Apparently dad, mum and son's went in to swim in front of Senegambia, the parents managed to get out but the boys couldn't manage it, so its luck our wonderful boys were there. 👍

The Red Dolphins (RDs) are unpaid volunteers, they keep the tourist beaches clean and safe. They must provide their own uniforms, whistles, flags, tip boxes, signboards etc. In addition, they need food and somewhere to sleep at night. These needs cannot be met without help. The RDs are victims of their own success, when this executive committee started their tenure there were about a dozen RDs, now there are over fifty working across ten bases.

There are three main funding streams. The money put into the tip boxes, goes into their pockets and is used for fish money (fresh food) and personal needs.

The money raised from the quiz and donations, go towards uniforms, printing, flags, food (staples e.g. rice, oil), medical bills, signs for boards etc.

Any remaining money, and the money raised via Just Giving is put towards ‘Summer Cover’. This is when schools break up, the beach is crowded with locals and very few tourists. It is a difficult time for the RDs because they get hardly any tips. There is a Just Giving target of £500, so far, about £60 has been raised. They always hope that the Gambian Tourist Board will contribute but cannot rely on this. The RDs have many FB followers, so are hoping that some of you may consider donating. Please help the RDs continue to do the fantastic job they do.

Carole didn't forget the RDs when she was home in UK last year. She worked really hard selling second hand clothes on Vinted so she could make a marvellous donation to them this year. Well Done and Thank You..x
