The first victims of climate change are the resilient people in rural communities, who contribute minimally to pollution yet face its harsh realities every day. The Buzz climate module empowers these communities, with women stepping forward as catalysts for change in their villages. When a woman envisions herself as a tree, her sense of responsibility toward her environment becomes integral to her well-being and the strength of her community.

In this session, each woman embodies a tree, sharing the unique benefits of her chosen species and collectively outlining actions to safeguard the natural world by deeply exploring soil, water, pollution, and consumption. This marks a pivotal moment in recognizing environmental protection as both a personal and a communal duty.

A systematic, manageable growth is the essence of our training. It takes discipline, perseverance, and dedication to build a business from scarce resources.

Incha Njie began her journey humbly, working with a community group in a vegetable garden where they grew vegetables and shared the profits. Fueled by big dreams, Incha learned and saved to launch her own investment—cultivating lettuce, okra, and spinach. Now, she proudly manages her own vegetable garden, aiming to double her profits. She supports her husband in the upkeep of the family, from daily meals to school fees.

Today, Incha stands as a beacon of inspiration for Kerr Biran, particularly for the women who participated in the Buzz Women Program in the Gambia. Through perseverance and consistency, they too can transform into their best selves.

🎯“I never had the opportunity to be trained about business; now that is a thing of the past , I can pay for my children's school and give them lunch also look after myself. I calculate my profit daily and go to the bank every month to save in my account, all thanks to Buzz Women,” said Jai Ceesay on this post-training revisit.

đź’ˇ The credit of the Buzz Women Journey undoubtedly remains with the buzzing women, for that matter. Galileo once said You can't teach a man anything, but you can help them find it within themselves. At Buzz, we inspire the women themselves to lead their own transformational journeys; we only bring knowledge and skills to share with them.

“I sell, spend everything, eat, and also provide for my children,” said Fatou Gaye during her post-training testimony from the village of Touba Mandour. She had never realised that it was possible to mobilise finances to expand and grow her business, nor did she understand the importance of saving systematically for the future.

Meet MusuKoi Tamba, our Dimba Nyima, also known as the anchor woman from the village of Arankon in the Foni District. MusuKoi is the leader of our women's group in the Arankon community, which is a beneficiary partner in the Kula Loan project.

Kula, meaning "Community of the Heart" in Sanskrit, is dedicated to investing in solutions that benefit individuals, families, and the broader community. Kula International focuses on supporting income generation through climate-friendly enterprises, firmly believing that lasting transformation originates within communities and that collective well-being is essential for a thriving society.

The pilot phase of this program established a strong foundation, with five communities—Kerr Ardo, Kafuta, Arankon, Kandunku, and Penyem—actively participating. Each community identified and implemented a green business aligned with local skills and needs, resulting in the availability of organic products within their areas. As you read this, 15 new communities are benefiting from the Kula Loan program been implemented by Buzz Women Gambia

MusuKoi and her group are involved in organic soap making. This initiative not only generates income for the women but also promotes the well-being of the entire community.

"I used to do gardening and also go to the river for oysters. I couldn’t do it anymore because it gets dark quickly before I can get to the river. Now I collect oysters and crabs.”

These words reflect the determination of Mam Manga, a mother committed to supporting her family. Balancing both gardening and oyster collection was once her routine, but with limited daylight, she made the choice to focus on the river.

M**s Buzz Women Journey began early last year through a transformative coaching program sponsored by FAO Gambia FISH4ACP. This empowering initiative is designed to equip oyster value chain actors with essential financial literacy and leadership skills. Mam and many women from the village of Kubuneh are now making positive financial decisions, embracing banking systems, understanding their customers, and making sound financial choices. This empowerment transcends the individual, sparking transformation within the entire community through the strength of one woman.
