Ministry of Health The Gambia, with IOM and the European Union in The Gambia's has launched a national Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Technical Working Group (TWG) to strengthen coordination, improve service delivery, and expand access to mental health and psychosocial support for vulnerable populations across The Gambia.

From commitments to action.

The first half of 2026 has been marked by strengthened partnerships, enhanced migration governance, expanded labour mobility opportunities, improved border management, migrant protection initiatives, and investments in resilient communities across The Gambia.

Through close collaboration with the Government of The Gambia, development partners, civil society, diaspora communities and local stakeholders, IOM continues to support safe, orderly and regular migration for the benefit of all.

This week, Ministry of Interior, The Gambia. convened the Return and Reintegration Thematic Working Group of the National Coordination Mechanism on Migration.

Members discussed progress on EU International Partnerships-funded MPRRSSA and STRONG programs and exchanged ideas on initiatives to strengthen return and reintegration support.

IOM, in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment and with support from the Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo - Ufficio di Dakar, has launched a two-day capacity-building workshop to strengthen labour migration governance in The Gambia.

The workshop brings together government institutions, labour migration stakeholders, private recruitment agencies, labour unions, TVET institutions and civil society representatives to advance safe, orderly and regular labour migration in The Gambia.

Family support can make a lasting difference.

Through the European Union in The Gambia-funded STRONG project, IOM brought together migrant returnees, their families and community stakeholders in Bakadagy, URR, to strengthen family support systems, promote psychosocial well-being, and foster social cohesion.
