NYANCHO ORPHAN FOUNDATION GAMBIA EXTENDS SUPPORT TO 60 ORPHANS IN BATOKUNKU

On Friday, 7 March 2026, Nyancho Orphan Foundation Gambia successfully distributed essential items to 60 registered orphans in Batokunku Village as part of its ongoing mission to support vulnerable children and improve their living conditions.

With generous support from friends, family, and well-wishers, the foundation distributed over 200 exercise books, clothes, rice, sugar, onions, and sweet potatoes to the beneficiaries. The support aimed to ease some of the daily challenges faced by orphans while ensuring they have the basic materials needed for education, nutrition, and personal well-being.

The initiative forms part of the foundation’s broader commitment to uplift and empower orphans as the next generation of leaders by helping them access essential life needs such as education, clothing, nutrition, and healthcare. Through these activities, the foundation also contributes to advancing key global development priorities under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 13: Climate Action.

Speaking during the distribution, Dawda Manneh, Founder and Executive Director of the foundation, reaffirmed his personal commitment and the organization’s dedication to supporting vulnerable children.

"Nyancho Orphan Foundation Gambia is not just an idea; it is a history and an inspiration that runs in my blood and is deeply rooted in my heart. Supporting orphans is a mission I carry with great love because I was once in their shoes," he said.

Since its establishment, the foundation has remained committed to providing hope, care, and opportunities for orphaned and vulnerable children across communities in The Gambia. Through the support of partners, donors, and volunteers, the organization continues to expand its impact and ensure that no child is left behind.

The leadership of the foundation expressed sincere gratitude to all supporters and called on individuals, organizations, and the wider community to continue supporting the noble cause of empowering orphans and vulnerable children for a brighter future.

Yesterday, 7th February, Nyancho Orphan Foundation Gambia received two cartons of exercise books and one carton of clothes from our generous donors in the United States of America.

As a charitable organization committed to uplifting orphans and the needy and ensuring they have access to a decent life and quality education like every other child, this support means a great deal to us. These materials will directly contribute to our mission of supporting vulnerable children and giving them hope for a better future.

Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, Nyancho Orphan Foundation Gambia extends our heartfelt condolences to the family of our beloved father, brother, and friend, the former Alkalo of Batokunku Village, Jerreh Jatta, and to the entire people of Batokunku.

We mourn the loss of a selfless leader whose life was defined by humility, compassion, and service to humanity. Alkalo Jerreh Jatta was more than a community leader, he was a father to many, a voice of wisdom, and a true friend to the vulnerable. His love and unwavering support for orphans, especially those under the care of Nyancho Orphan Foundation Gambia, will forever remain etched in our hearts. Through his kindness, many children felt seen, protected, and hopeful.

Batokunku has lost a pillar, and we have lost a mentor whose legacy of generosity and leadership will continue to inspire us. Though he has departed this world, his good deeds will continue to speak for him.

May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant his family, loved ones, and the people of Batokunku the strength, patience, and peace to bear this great loss.
