# SCHOOL PROJECT 2026/27 — BUILDING HOPE THROUGH EDUCATION

Many children in rural communities in The Gambia face serious challenges accessing basic school materials. Poverty can prevent families from providing school bags, textbooks, exercise books, pens, pencils, uniforms, shoes and other essential learning materials.

Welfare Trust Foundation – The Gambia is launching the School Project 2026/27 to support vulnerable and less-privileged students and give them a fair opportunity to learn alongside their peers.

Sponsorship: €150 per child

Your €150 contribution can help provide a child with essential educational materials, including a school bag, textbooks, exercise books, pens, pencils, uniform, shoes and other basic necessities.

Education is not only about school supplies—it is an investment in a child’s future and in the future of our nation. By supporting children today, we help reduce inequality, improve access to education and strengthen the country’s human capital.

Supporting government efforts in education

This project also aims to complement the efforts of the Government of The Gambia in improving access to quality education, particularly for children in rural and disadvantaged communities. By working together—government, communities, NGOs, businesses, foundations and individual donors—we can help ensure that fewer children are left behind because of poverty.

EMERGENCY DISASTER RELIEF APPEAL – UPPER RIVER REGION (URR), BASSE

Heavy stone destruction has left more than 20 families homeless and in urgent need of assistance. Many have lost their homes, belongings, and access to basic necessities.

The Welfare Trust Foundation is launching an emergency response to provide:
Emergency shelter and home repairs
Food and clean drinking water
Blankets, mattresses, clothing, and household essentials
School materials to help children return to school safely

We are calling on individuals, businesses, NGOs, government institutions, and development partners to stand with these affected families. Every donation—big or small—can help restore hope and rebuild lives.

For many families in our communities, Eid is the only time in the entire year they taste meat.

Right now, thousands of poor and needy families are waiting with hope. Your Qurban can bring them joy, dignity, and a meal they will never forget.

One cow can feed 40–60 families who cannot afford meat.

Welfare Trust Foundation is still committed to empowering communities and supporting vulnerable populations through its humanitarian outreach program.

In January, Welfare Trust Foundation expanded support to Bugeling village in Foni with a borehole and Quranic Recitation Centre in Babylon (West Coast Region), benefiting 160 students, including 30 orphans. Donations included 2 bulls, 60 mattresses, 15 bags of rice, and cooking oil for a month.
