Meet Abdul Camara alias APAPA of Basse KabaK**a.
Abdul is a living legend both on and off the pitch for Kansala Football Club. He has been playing for Kansala for two decades and continues to compete with the new generation of players.
Abdul began his career with Kansala as a teenager in the early 2000s when Basse High Level Field was considered the theater of dreams for Basse football. His career was carefully managed, giving him limited playing time to protect his development as a young athlete. Abdul has a deep passion for the game, and although he once considered quitting football, he always steps up to represent Kansala Football Club whenever the team faces challenges.
Essa Drammeh, Abdul's current coach and former teammate, recalls a time when he experienced difficulties in his coaching role. Abdul stood by his side and reassured him, saying, “I know there are divisions within the community, but I believe we’re going to achieve something special as a football club and a community.” That season, Kansala FC achieved the remarkable feat of winning the double, becoming champions of the Basse District Sports Committee and claiming the 100k Super Cup, sponsored by Hassan Touray.
Both Abdul and Essa intended to leave the club after their successful season, but circumstances changed, and they found themselves back doing what they love for KabaK**a.
Currently, Abdul continues to play alongside the current Kansala squad, marking an impressive 21 years in his football career.
Thank you, Abdul, for your tireless service to both your community and your childhood football club. Please remember to share your wisdom and tips with this new generation, as they can learn from your incredible experience. What a remarkable career you’ve had! Congratulations, and we wish you all the best this season.
