The African Youth Leadership Hub–The Gambia (AYLH) is delighted to formally celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of some of its dedicated and visionary leaders, who have successfully graduated with Distinctions, bachelor’s degree from the University of The Gambia.

The African Youth Leadership Hub-The Gambia extends its warmest greetings and heartfelt wishes to the entire Muslim Ummah on this joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr, marking the beginning of Shawwal 1447 AH.

This sacred celebration signifies the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan, a period devoted to fasting, prayer, reflection, and acts of charity. The African Youth Leadership Hub-Gambia Chapter (AYLH) is pleased to presents a Virtual Leadership Bootcamp under the theme: “Drug Abuse and Mental Health Issues Among African Youths: Coping With Modern Pressures”.

This timely and impactful session seeks to address the growing concerns surrounding substance abuse and mental health challenges affecting young people across the African continent. This event is aimed to provide a platform for dialogue, awareness creation, and practical strategies to help youths navigate societal expectations, peer pressure, academic stress and unemployment challenges.

AYLH🇬🇲: SCHEDULED A SPONSORED WALK EXERCISE, FEBRUARY 12TH, 2026

The African Youth Leadership Hub–The Gambia (AYLH) is pleased to schedule a Sponsored Walk exercise for next week Thursday, February 12th, 2026, at Westfield. This initiative is aimed at raising funds to support the effective implementation of the organization’s upcoming programs and activities, all geared toward youth empowerment, leadership development, and community impact.

Beyond fundraising, the event also seeks to strengthen unity, visibility, and shared responsibility toward youth-led development initiatives. AYLH therefore calls on all stakeholders, volunteers, and the general public to participate and support this noble initiative as the organization continues to champion positive change and sustainable youth leadership in The Gambia.

AYLH🇬🇲: PARTICIPATED IN A 2-DAY TRAINING ON FOREST MAPPING

The African Youth Leadership Hub–The Gambia (AYLH) successfully participated in a two-day training on Forest Mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) held on January 5th and 6th, 2026, organized by GambiaTech and facilitated by GIS expert, Mr. Olli Trunen.

Day One of the training took place at Alliance Française and focused on theoretical and technical sessions on Forest Mapping, Remote Sensing, and GIS. Participants were introduced to key concepts, tools, and practical applications of GIS in environmental monitoring and sustainable forest management.

Day Two featured a practical site visit to Bijilo Forest Park, where participants gained hands-on experience in identifying the nature and types of forests and tree species in The Gambia.

AYLH extends its sincere appreciation to GambiaTech for the invitation and for organizing this insightful training.

AYLH🇬🇲: PARTICIPATED IN A 2-DAY CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING ORGANIZED BY WOCAG

The African Youth Leadership Hub–The Gambia took part in a two-day capacity-building training on digital resilience organized by Women and Children Aid The Gambia (WOCAG), with support from UNESCO, held on December 18th and 19th, 2025. The training was conducted under the theme “Empowering Women and Youth Leaders to Counter Online Gender-Based Violence.”

The sessions provided an in-depth understanding of gender-based violence (GBV), including its meaning and various forms such as physical, emotional, psychological, and economic abuse. Participants also engaged in interactive discussions on the distinction between gender and s*x, and how societal norms and expectations often influence the allocation of roles and responsibilities based on gender.

Additionally, the training addressed issues of misinformation and disinformation in digital spaces and their role in fueling online GBV. Participants explored practical ways to counter online abuse, including reporting harmful content, while examining the broader impacts of online GBV on women and society as a whole.
