🇬🇲 WE MADE HISTORY HISTORY IN DAKAR 🇬🇲

On March 14, 2026, at the African Championship in Dakar, Senegal, we delivered a groundbreaking performance that has officially placed our country on the map of international dance sport. With a team of 15 dancers and 2 coaches, we rose to the occasion and made history for Africa.

The Gambia is now the ONLY African country to upgrade to the prestigious A-Class in Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll with our incredible couple crowned 1st place champions — the FIRST EVER African champions in this category🇬🇲.

In addition, we won outstanding Results Across multiple Categories:

3rd & 4th position in Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll B-Class
4th & 5th position in Acro Swing
4th position in Girls Formation
3rd position in Acro Swing Solo
1st ever A-Class Coach trophy

🏆 11 Trophies Won for our dear nation 🇬🇲, a true reflection of our strength, discipline and growth on the international stage.

This championship was more than a competition, it was history in the making. A powerful moment for Gambian representation and excellence in dance sport.

We are proud. We are inspired. And this is just the beginning.

Gambia 🇬🇲 we are on the continental stage! We have been nominated for Best Star Group Dancers of the Year 2025/26 at the Shining Stars Africa Awards 2026.

This moment is for Gambian dance and dancers, for our young girls and for every stage where we have proudly represented this country. This nomination is not ours alone, it belongs to every supporter, parent, partner, alumnus and well wisher who has been part of this journey.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Afriq Divas for over a decade. We have stood for discipline, cultural pride, professionalism, excellence, consistency and breaking barriers for women in the arts. Every rehearsal, every performance and every milestone has been strengthened by the community that stands behind us. We would not be here without your belief, your encouragement, your partnership and your endless support.

We are just getting started. The journey continues. 🇬🇲

Flex Fuzion was honoured to be part of “2 Continents, 1 Runway,” a celebration of The Gambia’s 61st Independence Anniversary through fashion, culture and diplomacy organised by the Türkiye in The Gambia and the Yunus Emre Cultural Centre.

Through our powerhouse dancers, we delivered two historic moments becoming the first Gambian dance company to perform the traditional Turkish Horon dance and igniting the stage with an electrifying Afriq Divas drum percussion performance that truly moved the audience.

The highlight of the evening was Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic of The Gambia, Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow joining us on the dance floor in a powerful show of support and encouragement for women in the performing arts.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Turkish Embassy in Banjul and the Yunus Emre Cultural Centre for believing in Flex Fuzion and for the honour of performing at such a significant moment in Gambian–Turkish bilateral relations.
