Earlier today, EcoKids Gambia conducted a mangrove restoration activity at the Tanbi Wetland in Bakau, bringing together young climate advocates from KM Scouts and Climate Justice Ambassadors from the recently concluded Plant for the Planet Young Climate Justice Empowerment Programme.
Together, participants restored approximately 5,000 mangrove propagules. For many, it was their first experience participating in a mangrove restoration activity, and the experience further strengthened their interest in environmental protection.
Children under 13 were also given the opportunity to observe the activity and, with guidance, plant two propagules each as a way of encouraging early participation in environmental action.
At EcoKids Gambia, we believe children and young people should not be left behind in climate action. This activity reflects our commitment to empowering the next generation to actively contribute to environmental protection.
Empower. Act. Protect.
