A delegation from the Gambia Skating Association yesterday met with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary Y. Badjie in Banjul to discuss the development of skating in The Gambia.
The meeting was led by the association’s Vice President, Gibril Jarju who briefed the Minister on the association’s recent journey to Senegal 🇸🇳 where they won a bronze medal 🥉. During the discussion, the delegation highlighted their achievements as well as the challenges they continue to face in developing the sport.
They also raised concerns about the lack of a proper training venue and the need for equipment to support athletes and improve training conditions.
In response, Minister Badjie expressed the ministry’s willingness to support the development of the sport. However, he noted that, the ministry would like the association to organise an internal tournament to better assess the level of participation and activity within football skating in the country.
