Yesterday was truly special as we spent Workers Day (May Day) with the amazing female inmates.

The day was filled with warmth, laughter and togetherness. They cooked a delicious pot of egusi soup, which we all enjoyed as a symbol of unity and shared experience.

Later, the atmosphere came alive with fun and excitement as we organized various sporting activities, including tug of war, musical chairs and the ever-entertaining potato race. The joy, teamwork and energy displayed were simply inspiring! πŸ˜€

Moments like these remind us of the importance of connection, empowerment and creating spaces where everyone can feel valued and included.

Immense gratitude to the The Gambia Prison Service for once again giving us the opportunity to do this event with the female inmates.

Special thanks to Monique of Stichting Gambia Geven met Liefde for contributing to the success of this event.

We had the pleasure of having Mrs. Mariama Saho, Co-Proprietress of Penmar Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation clinic, as a guest on Thursday 30th April, during one of our mental health sessions with the female inmates.

She discussed the importance of maintaining hygiene; frequent exercising among other vital stuff. She also donated some reusable sanitary pads/ underwear to the female inmates.

This past Saturday, on the 28th of March, we commemorated our 2nd Edition of International Women’s Day alongside incredible female inmates, dedicated prison officers, ex-inmates and our valued partners. πŸ’œ

It was a moment of empowerment, reflection and celebration of resilience. As part of the commemoration, certificates of good conduct were awarded to deserving inmates, recognizing their commitment to positive change and personal growth. In addition, deserving female prison officers were also presented with certificates for their outstanding to inmates rehabilitation.

We remain committed to supporting rehabilitation, restoring dignity and creating opportunities for a better future for every woman.

Immense gratitude to the Management of the Gambia Prison Service for once again giving us the opportunity to embark on this special activity.

Thanks to our donors who helped made the event a success.

Deeply grateful to Barhama Cham,, Hussain Dada and Nyancho aka Apakachy for coming through once again to entertain inmates, officers and guests. To Njundu Badjie of Sorra Promotions, thank you for always helping with the artistes for the entertainment.

A special thanks to Njilan Senghore, MD of Trust Bank for gracing the occasion and always supporting our activities.

To all our guests, we say a big thank you for coming despite your busy schedules.

Yesterday, we partnered with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to successfully conduct an awareness and sensitization engagement at the Mile 2 Central Prison, focusing on HIV/AIDS, Mental Health and Drug Abuse because these three critical issues deserve compassion, understanding and attention.

The discussions were engaging, honest and earnest. Moments like these reinforce our belief that awareness can inspire change and knowledge can empower lives.

We extend our sincere appreciation to The Gambia Prison Service for giving us the opportunity once again and UNODC for the collaboration, shared commitment and dedication to improving the wellbeing and rehabilitation of inmates.

Partnerships like this make real impact possible and we are open for similar collaborations.

When the idea was conceived in December 2023, it was for this moment! January and February have been memorable months indeed! We are so overcome with emotion; gratitude, joy and an unexplainable pride that words can barely capture because 6 of our Mentees have graduated β€οΈπŸ™πŸ½.

Watching our mentees both ex-prisoners and returnees graduate from various skills training programs; Tailoring, Automechanic and Hairdressing and Beauty, has touched our hearts in the most powerful way πŸ₯Ή..

Their smiles mean more than happiness to us...they stand for hope after uncertainty, strength after months many people wouldn't survive and courage after hardship. Each one of them chose to rise, to learn, to believe again, even when the chances were slim..... and today, that choice shines brightly in their eyes.

These graduations aren't just about skills learned or certificates received; it's about renewed confidence, restored dignity and the reclaiming of dreams once put on hold. They are proofs that no past is too broken, no journey too complicated, and no setback too final to stop a determined heart.

Today, we see you all as warriors; people who refused to be defined by their past, people who embraced growth, transformation and a new beginning.

Congratulations to our graduates. Keep believing in yourselves because we truly believe in you. πŸŽ“πŸ’™ 🎊❀️ πŸ‘ŠπŸ½!

Immense gratitude to NYSS - The Gambia, Ministry of Higher Education, Research,Science and Technology, SASS Cosmetology Academy (our darling sister Mrs. Adam Touray) and Crab Island TVET.

A great moment it was today! We signed an MoU with Best of Gastronomie, under the leadership of Spice Hub by Chef Bojang!

The purpose of this MoU is to develop culinary skills training and mentorship to inmates and ex-inmates; engage in community outreach and awareness by organizing joint cooking demonstrations, lunch on sales and food festivals and of course a step towards the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates.

Looking forward to a fruitful partnership.

We are pleased to announce that on Tuesday 30th December 2025, we signed a partnership agreement with Njie Charakh World Market and the main purpose of this partnership is for the Foundation to be supplying handicraft products made by the inmates to Njie Charakh World Market for sale to the public.

This partnership is not only about business but dignity, opportunity and above all rehabilitation. These handcrafted products stands for hope restoration, skills learned and a step toward successful reintegration of inmates into society.

We are very grateful to Njie Charakh World Market for standing with us in empowering lives through purpose and productivity as well as for believing in second chances.

All these would not have been possible without the support from Management of The Gambia Prison Service.

No matter where it is found, any given talent deserves an opportunity!

So on the 25th December, we partnered with Best of Gastronomie Gambia and had our "Feeding all inmates in Mile 2". We had A2 Di Fulani, Hussain Dada and Nyancho aka apakachy entertained the male inmates in the evening.

Last week Thursday, 1st January, it was the female inmates turn and they themselves cooked all the dishes.Yummy dishes like Egusi with Fufu, Chicken Stew with Rice and Ebbeh were cooked and we all ate together. We also bought birthday cakes and celebrated the birthdays of inmates.

Later in the evening Hussain Dada, Nyancho and Barhama performed for our sisters (as it was their turn for some stress relief moments).

Once again we are grateful for the Management of the Gambia Prison Service for giving us the opportunity.

The festive seasons ( Christmas, Koriteh, Tobaski, Easter) are painful periods for people serving terms in prison and are separated from their families. Acts of kindness, such as a festive lunch, can significantly improve their morale, reduce depression and anxiety as well as contribute to a calmer and more positive prison environment.

On the 25th December, Jollof Care Center embarked on a drive ("Feeding all inmates in Mile 2" ) and partnered with Best of Gastronomie Gambia to cook lunch for all the inmates at the State Central Prison.

This was possible because of the trust the Management of the Gambia Prison Service, under the leadership of their very supportive Director General, Mr. Ansumana Manneh, had on us.

A big thank you to Pastor Forbes, who went all out in ensuring that this event was a success. He not only introduced us to key people who rendered their support financially but also made his own contributions.

To Management of Ecotra Group Ltd, an immense gratitude for the donations made which also added to the success of this event.

To our brothers, Hussain Dada, A2 Di Fulani and Nyancho, thank you for sharing your times and those amazing performances y'all did for the Male inmates. Your music not only brought joy and hope to them but also a sense of dignity to them where such moments mean everything to them. For them, your performances were more than entertainment; it was a reminder that they are seen, valued and not forgotten.

We are also very grateful to Mr. Njundu Badjie Sorra for being very supportive since inception by introducing us to artistes who performed at our events. He also attended the event yesterday and hosted it free of charge, despite his busy schedule!

To our Board and Executive members, thank you for your volunteering spirits! Another activity successfully accomplished πŸ™ŒπŸ½!
