Doaf Gambia

Doaf Gambia Daughters of Africa (DOAF)
The work is to share and propagate tried models in grassroots communities across Africa.

This is done through delivering training and well-planned skill exchanges, enabling experiential learning for young people, managers and educators and the sharing of best practice. At the core of our philosophy, we believe in building healthy partnerships, and we are committed to addressing the inequalities and lack of opportunities that occur in Africa because of low resources and poor exposure t

o new learning. We work with communities to co-create projects and sustainable initiatives that support self-determination, good health and wellbeing, creative enterprise and sustainable energy.

I had the honour of leading a delegation of staff from the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, to a high-level meeting with the authorities of the University of The Gambia (UTG), including the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Herbert Robinson.

The engagement focused on exploring possible areas of collaboration, particularly in Transnational Education (TNE), staff development, and creating pathways for UTG students to further their studies at UWE, Bristol. While this is still a work in progress, I am encouraged by the positive discussions and the tangible outcomes already beginning to emerge alongside my broader recruitment efforts.
I am grateful for the openness and commitment shown by the UTG leadership, and I remain optimistic about what this partnership can deliver in the near future. Above all, I give thanks to God for the guidance and support that continue to make positive progress possible within such a short time.
Building bridges, creating opportunities, and strengthening institutional partnerships remain at the heart of my work.

Today at Daughters of Africa

This morning, we held a powerful capacity building training for our team on Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH), a critical part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding and accountability.

The session was facilitated by our very own CEO, Mr. Famara Fatty, who recently completed an intensive PSEAH training with UNFPA. Through this training, our staff strengthened their knowledge and skills to ensure our work continues to protect, empower, and uphold the dignity of every individual we serve.

At DOAF, we believe in creating safe spaces for all, especially women, girls, and vulnerable communities. Our commitment to zero tolerance for abuse and exploitation is not just a policy, it's our principle.
