Sea turtles play a vital role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems by supporting seagrass beds and coral reefs, which are essential for other marine life. However, these ancient creatures face numerous threats, including plastic pollution, which they often mistake for food, and climate change, which affects their nesting sites and the gender balance of hatchlings. Additionally, many sea turtles fall victim to bycatch in fishing gear, hunting, and human development is increasingly destroying their coastal habitats. Protecting sea turtles is crucial not only for their survival but also for the health of our oceans.
