True Vision Ghana joined the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC), AG. Director General's(Dr.Kharmacelle Prosper Akanbong) familiarization tour held on the 7th May, 2025 at the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council's Hall.
The Acting Director General and the GAC team expressed their commitment to strengthening collaboration with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) actively involved in HIV advocacy, awareness campaigns, and prevention efforts. Their aim is to gather insights into the challenges faced on the ground and to collectively identify strategies for achieving an end to the HIV epidemic in Ghana as part of the resetting agenda.
The Director General underscored that factors such as poverty, inadequate public awareness about HIV, school dropouts, and illegal mining (galamsey) are significant contributors to new HIV infections in the region.
During the tour, the Executive Director/co-founder of True Vision Ghana emphasized the critical need for an educational policy specifically designed to support orphans who have lost parents to HIV-related illnesses. He also voiced concerns regarding several challenges: limited logistical resources hindering effective HIV screening, insufficient skills for providing advanced support, and the pressing issue of food insecurity affecting those they serve.
