*A Joyous Partnership for Menstrual Hygiene Awareness at Tetteh Ocloo State for the Deaf at Adjei Kojo in the Tema Municipality on 24th May, 2025*
In a heartfelt display of community support and compassion, Charmel Foundation and Adom Zoe Foundation joined hands to bring hope and dignity to the students of Tetteh Ocloo State for the Deaf in Ghana, in celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Month.
On 24th May 2025, the school grounds buzzed with excitement as volunteers from both foundations arrived with boxes of sanitary pads, Liquid soup, and banners advocating for menstrual health. The students, many of whom communicate through sign language, eagerly gathered in the school auditorium, where visual aids and sign language interpreters helped relay important messages about personal hygiene and mental well-being.
Mrs Emelia Abrokwah, CEO Charmel Foundation, a midwife and health educator, emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene through visual demonstrations, ensuring that the students, regardless of hearing ability, fully understood and felt empowered. Simultaneously, Adom Zoe Foundation facilitated interactive sessions, encouraging the students to ask questions through sign language and expressive gestures.
As the event was about to end, the headmaster of Tetteh Ocloo State for the Deaf expressed his heartfelt appreciation, noting that the support would go a long way in ensuring the students’ health, confidence, and dignity. The students left motivated and proud, knowing they are supported and valued.
