Northern Voices Ghana is a registered non-profit organization created by a group of young individuals with the passion for creating a better narrative of Northern Ghana via youthful engagements on community projects. Our main objective is to help transform local communities through youth engagements in various initiatives that span a large spectrum of activities including various outreaches to rur

al populations. Our mission is to become a community organization in Ghana run by youth improving livelihoods using innovative strategies in empowering the youth, through skills development, quality educational and health outreaches, and other relevant social programs. Some of our flagship projects include our educational outreach projects where we have mentored over 5000 senior high school students across different schools in the northern region. We have also had the opportunity to work with some local and international organizations such as TZEDEK, KL-YES Program by the US Department of State, Youth Empowerment For Life (YEFL) among many others on various projects including peace campaigns and other youth empowerment projects.

We are incredibly proud to share this story. 💙

When Ahalam Maliboto Azangina joined Northern Voices Ghana – Project READ as a volunteer, her passion for literacy and community impact was evident from the start. Project READ became an anchor in her college application journey, and today, we’re proud to announce that she has received a full-ride scholarship to the prestigious Ashesi University, where she will be pursuing Mechanical Engineering as a member of the Class of 2029.

Stories like Ahalam’s remind us why we do this work. We wish you every success in this next chapter and look forward to welcoming you back to continue inspiring the children you once served. 📚✨

Glancing through examination scripts that her mother, a basic school teacher, had marked, Ahalam Maliboto Azangina’29 noticed that many of the students struggled to express themselves clearly in written English. Believing early exposure to reading could make a difference, she volunteered with Northern Voices Ghana Project Read, an NGO that helps primary school pupils in Tamale develop fluent reading skills.

Now a Mechanical Engineering student at Ashesi University and a member of the Undergraduate Class of 2029 Cohort B, Ahalam is excited to grow her public speaking skills while building on her entrepreneurial experience. Read more: https://ashe.si/4sHrtbg
