Response from the Regional Dagbon Students Association (DASA)
It is with a very heavy heart that we have received this information concerning the possible withdrawal of the IGP’s Special Operations Team from Tamale. As the Regional body of the Dagbon Students Association (DASA), this news deeply saddens us and raises serious concern among students and the youth across the region. 😔
The presence of the Special Operations Team from the Ghana Police Service has brought a sense of calm, confidence, and security to the people of Tamale, especially students who live, study, and move around the city every day. Their efforts have helped restore peace and deter criminal activities, creating a safer environment for learning and development.
Hearing that such a vital security support could be withdrawn at this critical moment is very worrying for us as youth leaders. Our primary concern has always been the safety and well-being of students and the general public. Tamale is not only a city of culture and history but also a center for education where many young people pursue their dreams.
We therefore humbly and respectfully appeal to the leadership of the Ghana Police Service and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to kindly reconsider any decision that may lead to the withdrawal of the Special Operations Team. The peace and security of Tamale must remain a priority.
As the Regional Dagbon Students Association leadership, we are deeply saddened by this development and sincerely hope that this information remains only a rumor. The youth of Dagbon deserve protection, reassurance, and a secure environment to thrive. 🙏
Tamale needs peace.
Students need safety.
Our future depends on stability.
Signed,
Regional Leadership
Dagbon Students Association (DASA)
