On July 15, the Network of Youth for Climate Action Africa (NYCA Africa) was proud to co-host the 2026 World Youth Skills Day commemoration at the National Youth Authority regional office in Tamale.

Our theme this year was "Empowering Youth Through Skills, Inclusion, and Strategic Partnerships for a Sustainable Future".

During the event, our Capacity Building Lead, Courage Kojo, made a great point about emerging technology:
"AI should be viewed as a tool for enhancing productivity, improving efficiency, and supporting innovation rather than replacing human capabilities"

Mr. Bawa from The Rural Connect also reminded us that:
"preparing young people for success requires more than academic achievement, and that our education systems must strengthen collaboration with industry".

A big thank you to our co-organizers at CORD Ghana, National Youth Authority, Department of Gender, YACES, and Rural Connect. Together, we are building a stronger future for our youth!

As we commemorate World Mangrove Day, a moment to recognize some of the hardest working ecosystems on our planet.

Mangroves store massive amounts of carbon, protect coastal communities from storm surges, and provide breeding grounds for marine life. Restoring and protecting these ecosystems directly drives progress on SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water).

Young leaders across Africa and beyond are stepping up to restore coastal ecosystems, proving that community-led action makes a real impact.

𝘞𝑜𝘳𝑙𝘥 𝘠𝑜𝘶𝑡𝘩 𝘚𝑘𝘪𝑙𝘭𝑠 𝐷𝘢𝑦 2026 !

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫.

A university degree used to feel like the finish line. Today, for many young people, it's just the beginning of another difficult journey. You graduate full of hope, polish your CV, spend hours tailoring applications, and wait. Days turn into weeks. Weeks become months. Sometimes you receive no response at all. Other times you're told you don't have enough experience for an entry-level job. You begin to wonder: 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑑𝑜 𝐼 𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑖𝑓 𝑛𝑜 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑒 𝑎 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒?

Artificial Intelligence is reshaping how businesses hire, and employers are increasingly looking beyond degrees to the skills people can actually demonstrate. The question is no longer, "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦?" It's becoming, "𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑒, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑠 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑏𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒?" If our graduates are facing such challenges, how is it for the non-degree holders and school leavers?
