The container with sports equipment and other donations has arrived in Tamale! 🚚📦🇬🇭

Randers Realskole's students have been responsible for collecting sports gear and school supplies—everything from footballs to tables and chairs has now arrived in Ghana.

Hear MacCarthy from HOPin Academy tell us about the donations and the Plan-B-Club project, which will put these items to great use.

Some items will be used by local clubs and players immediately. Others are stored at HOPin Academy until the new Plan B facilities are ready 🏟️

Fitness machines and equipment are set up for a temporary training center, where local clubs can book sessions with a trainer—offered completely free of charge by HOPin Academy 🏋️

Football gear and sports equipment are compiled into a "Sports Equipment Library"—a library for sports gear where clubs and players can borrow or rent player kits, bibs, boots, shin guards, and balls for free ✨

When the new Plan-B-Club facilities are ready, all the equipment will be relocated there.

This container is part of FANT and HOPin Academy's GLOBUS project with Randers Realskole and Østjylland.

The project is supported by GLOBUS-puljen, a grant funded by Udenrigsministeriet and managed by CKU and DTDA.

As part of the Mastercard Foundation's Empowering Youth with Accredited Trade Skills and Business Incubation Project, our 25 trainees in the Computer Software Design program at HOPin Academy took a major leap forward on their path to becoming developers by leveraging artificial intelligence.

In this session, trainees learned to use Cursor AI within Visual Studio Code to edit and refactor their code effectively, while setting up their GitHub accounts to manage, edit, and collaborate on real-world projects.

Developing these core workflows gives them a strong foundation for success in today’s tech industry, driving their journey toward acquiring employable skills and securing dignified livelihoods.

Skills in Action! We’re thrilled to see our 50 participants making incredible strides across our Garment Making and Fashion & Design tracks.

Here’s a snapshot of what they’re mastering right now:

Garment Making:
Essential workplace safety, precision fabric cutting, and sewing fundamentals.

Fashion & Design:
Mastering the basics from understanding loom components and weaving fundamentals to learning the core techniques of batik and T-shirt customization.

Laying a strong foundation in these core skills is the first step toward creative independence and mastery. Stay tuned as they progress toward bringing their full designs to life.

Highlights of the Business Incubation Program cohort's recent visit to Modern City Plastics Company.

As part of our Business Incubation Program, our cohort visited Modern City Plastics, a 100% Ghanaian-owned manufacturing and recycling facility in Tamale. Participants toured production units, engaged with the team, and gained invaluable insights into practical business management.

HOPin Academy had the privilege of hosting our partners from the Invest for Jobs team at GIZ.

The visit gave us the opportunity to review our projects and programmes, share progress, and reflect on the impact we’ve made over the past few years in creating employability, digital skills and entrepreneurship pathways for young people in the Northern Region.

We also acknowledged GIZ as a supportive partner in our journey and in addressing the challenges affecting youth.

This partnership and visit reaffirm our shared commitment to building sustainable solutions for youth development. For HOPin, it strengthens our capacity to scale impact. For GIZ, it highlights the value of local partnerships in driving employability and entrepreneurship across Northern Ghana.
