A CALL FOR COLLECTIVE ACTION ON FARMER–HERDER PEACE AND NATIONAL INCLUSION
The Executive Director of ASERD-GHANA and PhD Candidate at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Mr. Benjamin Dimongso Kafari has called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, traditional authorities, security agencies, civil society organizations, development partners, and community members to promote sustainable peace between farmers and herders and advance the inclusion of Fulbe/Fulani communities in national development.
Speaking as Guest of Honour at the North East Regional Conference of Tabital Pulaaku International (Fulbe organization), in Walewale on May 23, 2026, Mr. Kafari emphasized that farmer–herder peace remains a shared responsibility that demands collective commitment and practical action from all stakeholders.
Addressing a gathering of traditional leaders, government officials, security personnel, Fulbe/Fulani leaders, women, youth groups, and development practitioners, he noted that the theme of the conference, “Farmer–Herder Peace: A Collective Responsibility of All Stakeholders,” was both timely and relevant given the increasing tensions that have characterized relations between farming and pastoral communities across Ghana and the wider West African sub-region.
