HAPPY FOUNDER'S DAY

HE DREAMED. WE CONTINUE!

He dreamed of liberating the people of Ghana, and Africa at large, from colonial rule and servitude.
Equitas Africa was founded to ensure equity and empower those still fighting to be free, free from poverty, exclusion, and silence.
He dreamed of a Ghana where every citizen could rise, regardless of where they started.
Equitas Africa was founded to make opportunity a right, not a privilege, for every young person, every woman, every marginalized voice.

He dreamed of a united, self-reliant Ghana and Africa, standing on its own feet.
Equitas Africa was founded to build communities that lead their own liberation, through peace, through skills, through voice.

His dream did not end in 1957. It lives in the work we do today.

Empowering the Next Generation of Advocates!

During the week, Equitas Africa in collaboration with She Leads Ghana, Northern Regional Chapter and the Young Urban Women's Movement, came together for a step down training on the Young Citizens Scorecard, a practical tool that helps young people assess the services in their communities and hold duty bearers accountable.

Facilitated in part by our Executive Director, Bignabiba Uwumborbe David, the session equipped young women and youth leaders with real skills: how to identify issues affecting their communities, document evidence, engage decision makers constructively, and turn findings into advocacy that gets results.

At Equitas Africa, equity for all means empowerment for life, and investing in young people's voices is exactly how we get there.

Grateful to our partners and to every young advocate who showed up ready to lead. This is only the beginning.

As we listened to the family and witnessed their daily reality, we were reminded that disability should never mean abandonment, isolation, or hopelessness. Families like Salma's deserve care, inclusion, and practical support to help them navigate these challenges with dignity.

Our team spent time engaging with the family to better understand their needs, and we are exploring ways through the North-Care Project to support Salma and ease the burden on her family.

Equitas Africa was privileged to participate in the Civic Space Resource Hub (CSR-Hub) Cohort IV training on Civic Space Protection & Regulatory Compliance, held in Tamale from 22ndโ€“24th June 2026.

Over the three-day intensive training, our Executive Director, Bignabiba Uwumborbe David joined 24 other civil society organisations from across the five northern regions, Ghana to deepen their knowledge and strengthen capacities in civic space protection, regulatory compliance, organizational governance, and advocacy. The sessions also provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences, build networks, and explore collaborative approaches to advancing an enabling environment for civil society.

At Equitas Africa, we remain committed to promoting accountable governance, human rights, and sustainable civic engagement. The knowledge and practical tools acquired through this programme will strengthen our institutional systems and enhance our ability to serve our communities more effectively.
