In Senegal, EMCEP was pleased to be represented at Saly+2: Exchange on Young Feminist Leadership to End Violence Against Women and Promote Peace. Convened by UN Women West and Central Africa under the ACT Programme.
Our Project Coordinator and Gender Advisor, Elsie Kusaah, facilitated a group session on “What Should Be Preserved, Improved and Discontinued?”, contributing to reflections on feminist organising, collective action, inclusion, accountability and sustainability.
The exchange also provided an opportunity to highlight EMCEP’s Women and Youth Climate-Peace Ambassadors ( ) initiative. With seed support from Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict CLIMPSE initiative, WYCPA is piloting a community-led approach that places women and young people at the centre of climate resilience, peacebuilding and community security.
For EMCEP, the connection is clear: climate pressures, gender inequality and peace and security are deeply interconnected, and women and young people must be part of shaping locally relevant solutions.
We look forward to building stronger partnerships and opportunities for collaboration, learning and support that can help promising community-led approaches such as WYCPA reach more communities.
