The launch of the 2026 Cohort of the Y-TEaM Programme at the WANEP Ghana Office was more than just an event,it was a clear statement of intent for youth, peace, and security across West Africa. Congratulations to our incredible officers Amb Abdul Rauf and Mahamadu Abdul-Fatawu

The gathering brought together partners, stakeholders, and members of the Youth 4 Peace Ghana platform, all aligned on one mission: strengthening youth leadership in peacebuilding. From the opening remarks to the cohort presentation and the rich, engaging discussions, the atmosphere carried a strong sense of purpose and direction.

Moments like this remind us that sustainable peace isn’t built in isolation,it takes collaboration, consistency, and young people who are ready to step up and lead.

The NEC Quarter Meeting convened key stakeholders for a focused review of emerging issues within the network and to map out a clear, strategic way forward. Discussions centered on strengthening management systems and developing a more inclusive, transparent onboarding process for organizations looking to join AFRIYAN.

Our Project Officer Amb Abdul Rauf, who serves as the Pillar 3 Lead for Youth, Peace and Security, actively participated in the deliberations, contributing to strategies that align with AFRIYAN’s core values.

As interest in the network grows, the emphasis remains on building a coordinated, values-driven platform that goes beyond numbers to deepen impact in youth, peace, and security. The guiding principle is clear: grow wisely, lead with intention, and keep the mission at the heart of everything we do.

EMCEP is currently participating in the 2026 Conflict Prevention Course to better equip us in our line of work. Officially launched by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), the training draws participants from Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin. With support from the Government of Switzerland, the course builds the capacity of professionals in peacebuilding, security, and international relations by providing practical tools to assess conflict drivers, recognize early warning signs, and respond effectively in our respective fields.

During the opening, Deputy Commandant Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorrogo underscored the pressing need for proactive conflict prevention given today’s fast-changing security environment. He highlighted that the course reinforces key regional frameworks like ECOWAS and the African Peace and Security Architecture, while encouraging broad-based participation and collaboration. Through a blend of lectures, case studies, and hands-on exercises, the programme demonstrates KAIPTC’s ongoing dedication, alongside partners such as Switzerland, to advancing peace and security across Africa.

EMCEP honored an invitation from CDD-Ghana to attend a Regional Dialogue on the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), organized earlier today by CDD-Ghana in collaboration with the OSP.

The dialogue is part of a broader initiative to strengthen accountability institutions and enhance citizen engagement in Ghana’s anti-corruption reforms.

It convened a wide range of stakeholders — including CSOs, policymakers, development partners, professional bodies, media practitioners and influencers, opinion leaders, traditional authorities, youth and women groups — with the primary goal of deepening understanding of the OSP framework, identifying gaps in the existing legal regime, and building consensus on needed reforms.

CRS Ghana hosted a high-level dialogue on Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) in Tamale. EMCEP as a key participant emphasized that, CIMIC activities must be youth-sensitive for sustainable implementation.

The event brought together stakeholders from security services, government, NGOs, INGOs, media, and academia to strengthen peace, trust, and resilience. Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John, highlighted trust as key to effective CIMIC: “Communities must trust security institutions... security actors must rely on communities.”

EMCEP's input stressed the importance of youth inclusion in CIMIC for long-term success. The PoVETSA project, funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to boost civilian-security trust and prevent extremism.
