Anaalie Legacy Foundation - ALF (ALF) was proud to be represented at the 2026 SBC Evidence Summit in Accra!

Our Founder, Amanda Anipu, presented a poster on "Breaking Silence Around Dementia: Community-Based Awareness and Caregiver Support Approaches for Elderly Wellbeing in Ghana."

It was a powerful opportunity to bring dementiaโ€”and the voices of family caregivers into the national conversation on primary health care.

We are especially grateful to the Africa CDC team for their engagement and encouragement.

Today, the Anaalie Legacy Foundation - ALF team visited an elderly woman in Tamale as part of our regular home visits.

Beyond spending time with her, we had the opportunity to speak with her daughter-in-law, who lovingly cares for her every day. One thing she shared stayed with us:

Words of encouragement from others have inspired her to continue giving her best.

It was a beautiful reminder that caregivers also need appreciation, recognition, and support.

We are grateful to our volunteer and Ambassador for Dignified Ageing and Dementia Care, Mariam Tiyumba Hamza, for sharing such a heartfelt reflection from today's visit.

Every home visit reminds us that caring for older persons also means supporting those who care for them.

Over the past two days, Anaalie Legacy Foundation - ALF proudly participated in the 2026 ๐†๐ก๐š๐ง๐š ๐‚๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฅ ๐’๐จ๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ญ๐ฒ ๐…๐จ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฆ (๐†๐‚๐’๐…), represented by our Digital Systems & Communications Lead, Abdul Hakim Karim at the University of Ghana, Accra.

The Forum brought together civil society organizations, development partners, policymakers, and young leaders from across Ghana to discuss how stronger partnerships can advance inclusive development and democratic governance.

Throughout the event, ALF engaged in meaningful conversations, built new professional connections, and gained practical insights in:

- Artificial Intelligence & Digital Transformation
- โ Proposal Development & Grant Writing
- โ Non-Profit Compliance
- Local Resource Mobilization

Most importantly, the Forum provided an opportunity to introduce more people to ALF's mission of promoting dignified ageing, dementia awareness, caregiver support, and compassionate community care for older persons.

We return inspired, better connected, and even more committed to serving older persons, people living with dementia, and their caregivers.

Far too many older persons in our communities are suffering in silence. After dedicating their lives to raising families, building communities, and shaping future generations, many are left without the care, understanding, and support they deserve.

For those living with , the challenge is even greater. Misconceptions and stigma often lead to isolation, neglect, and discrimination, with some wrongly attributing dementia-related symptoms to witchcraft.

At Anaalie Legacy Foundation - ALF, we are committed to changing this narrative through awareness, advocacy, education, and compassionate care.

The meeting brought together our esteemed Board of Directors and members to deliberate on the Foundation's strategic direction, governance framework, organizational priorities, and long-term vision for improving the lives of older persons, particularly those living with dementia and other vulnerabilities.

As we celebrate this season of faith, compassion, and togetherness, we send warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all our Muslim families and communities.
This Eid, let us also remember the elderly among us โ€” especially those who may be lonely, unwell, grieving, or without family around them.
A simple visit, phone call, prayer, shared meal, or act of kindness can mean so much. โค๏ธ
At ALF, we encourage everyone to deliberately check on elderly parents, neighbours, widows, caregivers, and vulnerable aged persons during this festive season.
