On Saturday, we proudly celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of the Adolescent Girls Academy (AGA), marking the successful completion of an inspiring eight week journey for 30 young women and recent Senior High School graduates.

Over the past eight weeks, the participants have explored and developed practical skills in Digital Skills, Entrepreneurship and Employability, Health and Wellbeing, and Leadership and Life Skills. Through these sessions, they have built confidence, broadened their perspectives, and gained practical tools to help them navigate life beyond Senior High School.

One of the highlights of the graduation was an engaging conversation on career pathways and life after Senior High School, facilitated by our mentors, Hairiya Bala, Nihad Naana Karim and Sawudatu Z. Salifu. Their insights encouraged the participants to think critically about their career choices, navigate uncertainty with confidence, and take intentional steps towards their aspirations.

The graduation may mark the end of the Academy, but we believe it is also the beginning of new possibilities for these young women.

The Adolescent Girls Academy is a collaborative initiative of Thrive Nest Ghana and Allied Relief, committed to equipping young women with the skills, knowledge, confidence, and support they need as they transition into the next chapter of their lives.

Some weeks ago Allied Relief, in partnership with kicked off the Adolescent Girls Academy (AGA), bringing together 30 recent Senior High School graduates for an eight-week journey of learning, growth and empowerment.
Our journey began with an orientation session, where participants were introduced to the Academy’s vision and objectives, programme expectations, the learning journey ahead and the opportunities available to them. They were also introduced to the Academy’s four key pillars: Digital Skills, Entrepreneurship & Employability, Health & Wellbeing, and Leadership & Life Skills.

Through a baseline assessment and conversations with participants, we gained valuable insight into their existing knowledge, experiences, aspirations and expectations. Many hoped to gain practical skills to support their employment and entrepreneurial ambitions, learn more about adolescent health and wellbeing, build their confidence, and develop the skills needed to pursue their personal and professional goals. Participants also expressed genuine excitement and a strong willingness to learn after being selected for the Academy and set a positive tone for the journey ahead. Now, as the Academy journey is nearing ongoing, and we are taking a moment to look back at where it all began. We are excited to share more from the journey and the experiences of our participants in the days ahead.

Allied Relief, in collaboration with , has implemented a Financial Literacy and Credit Access Training under the VSLA Community Ambassador Network Initiative.
The training was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of financial management and improve their ability to make informed decisions around savings, credit, and the responsible use of financial resources.
Through initiatives like this, we are helping community members build the knowledge and confidence needed to better manage their finances, access appropriate credit opportunities, and strengthen their livelihoods.
We remain committed to supporting community driven approaches that equip individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to achieve greater financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.

We are pleased to announce the successful launch of the Adolescent Girls Academy (AGA), beginning with an orientation session for our inaugural cohort of 30 recent Senior High School graduates.

During the session, participants were introduced to the Academy’s eight-week learning journey, its four core pillars, and the structure of activities ahead. A baseline assessment was also conducted, alongside a discussion of participants’ expectations, to ensure the programme is tailored to their needs and allows for meaningful measurement of growth and impact.

Through this initiative, we are committed to equipping young women with essential digital skills, entrepreneurial thinking, health awareness, and leadership capabilities to support their transition into empowered and productive futures.

Allied Relief participated in a two-day Training of Trainers programme for innovation hubs and ecosystem actors in Northern Ghana, organised by the Africa Climate Collaborative.

The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of participating organisations to support young entrepreneurs and contribute to Africa’s growing green economy.

Through the programme, participants were introduced to specialised entrepreneurship manuals developed by the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Work Stream at the University of Ghana. These resources will support our efforts to promote climate-smart business models and encourage more sustainable and resilient approaches to enterprise development.

At Allied Relief, we believe that investing in knowledge and partnerships strengthens our ability to serve communities, empower young people, and create lasting impact.

We are grateful to the organisers, facilitators, and fellow participants for the valuable learning and exchange, and we look forward to applying these insights in our work.
