Northern Regional Youth Parliament

On Sunday, 6th September, 2026, the leadership of the Northern Regional Youth Parliament, together with the Tamale Metro Youth Parliament and Sagnarigu Municipal Youth Parliament, held a productive leadership engagement focused on strengthening coordination and the effectiveness of youth parliamentary structures. The meeting was also joined by the NYA Regional Director, whose presence added value to the engagement. A fruitful step towards stronger collaboration, coordination, and youth parliamentary development across the region.

Yesterday, August 25, 2026, our house proudly took part in the historic maiden National Youth Parliament Mock Sitting at the Parliament House of Ghana as part of National Youth Month 2026.

We are especially proud to see the session brilliantly presided over by our very own Rt. Hon. Shamsudeen Rashida—an esteemed member of our house who also doubles as the Speaker of the Tamale Metro Youth Parliament! Watching our young leaders step up, command the national discourse, and demonstrate exceptional statesmanship is a true testament to the bright future ahead.

Kudos to the National Youth Authority (NYA) and the Parliament of Ghana for this impactful initiative empowering the next generation of changemakers.

The Northern Regional Youth Parliament was honoured to be represented by Hon. Seidu Inusah Jaminja, Deputy Minority Leader, at the National Youth Conference 2026, held at the KNUST Great Hall from 10th–13th AUGUST 2026, under the theme:

“Rebuilding Values, Inspiring Patriotism: Empowering the Youth in the Digital Age.”

The conference provided a powerful platform for young people from across Ghana to engage in meaningful conversations on leadership, patriotism, values, innovation, digital transformation, and our collective responsibility towards national development.

The Northern Regional Youth Parliament extends its sincere appreciation to the National Youth Authority and its partners for creating this platform for youth dialogue, participation and leadership development.

The voice of the Northern Region was present, engaged and represented. 🇬🇭✊🏾

The Northern Regional Youth Parliament was represented at a 5-day Civil-Security Engagement Training on Preventing Violent Extremism, held 1st–5th June 2026 at Modern City Hotel, Tamale. Hon. Santia Hikmatu Issahaku, Deputy Majority Leader, attended as the Parliament’s representative.

The training was organized by CRS Ghana in collaboration with the The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Accra Ghana and the National Peace Council, Ghana. It brought together youth and security stakeholders from Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Narcotics Control Commission, and others to strengthen collaboration for peaceful communities.

Participants covered community engagement, drivers of violent extremism, media and civic education, youth vulnerability, gender inclusion, and action planning for sustainable impact. The program equipped youth with practical skills to build resilience, social cohesion, and community-security partnerships.

The Northern Regional Youth Parliament reaffirmed its commitment to champion peace, dialogue, and positive change by applying the knowledge gained across the Northern Region and beyond.
