Building the future of Ghana starts with empowering its youth today.

This past Tuesday, March 10, the Northern Regional Youth Parliament, in a proud collaboration with the UDS Students’ Parliament, hosted a Model Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) at the University for Development Studies to commemorate this year’s .

We were honored to have the British High Commissioner in attendance to witness our youth leaders step into the roles of global heads of state. Through this simulation, we engaged in high-level diplomacy focused on security and community resilience—proving that the youth of the Northern Region are prepared for the global stage.

Our mission remains clear: ensuring that youth voices are central to the future of democracy. This engagement highlights our commitment to leadership without age limits and the strength of our partnership with UK in Ghana and the University for Development Studies - UDS

The energy and insight displayed during this Model CHOGM show that the next generation of diplomats and leaders is already here.

Dear Inspector General of Police,

We write to your esteemed office to humbly request that you reconsider the decision to withdraw the Special Operations Team (SOT) from the Northern Region. Their deployment has yielded significant results, marked by a substantial reduction in drug trafficking and related crimes, decreased lawlessness and social vices, and an overall improvement in the security atmosphere that has notably boosted economic activity in the region.

The achievements of the SOT are a testament to their dedication and effectiveness in addressing pressing security concerns. Given these accomplishments, we respectfully urge that you allow them to continue their vital work in the Northern Region. Their retention would not only consolidate the gains made but also further enhance regional security, creating a more stable environment for economic growth and development.

We believe that with continued support for their operations and enhanced collaboration with local authorities, the SOT can sustain and build upon their successes. We therefore respectfully request that you reconsider the withdrawal decision and permit the team to remain in the Northern Region.

Sincerely,
Speaker, NRYP

On Saturday, November 08, 2025, honourable members of the Northern Regional Youth Parliament joined Youth Budget Monitors and YEFL-Gh in a Campaign walk, marching through the streets of Tamale to petition the President of Ghana through the Northern Regional Minister.

The petition calls on the government to adhere to Act 2016 (939) and Act 2015 (887), allocating 5% of DACF to NYA and 10% to YEA, as mandated by law. However, the government has been non-compliant, allocating only 0.6% of DACF to these crucial agencies, severely impacting youth development programs. As youth of Ghana, we demand government adhere to these legal provisions to enhance to holistic empowerment of young people.
