GHANA YOUTH GUIDE is pleased to host five student interns from the Department of Political Science, University for Development Studies, Nyankpala Campus.
Over a six-week period, these young professionals are being immersed in the practical realities of NGO work, with intensive training and hands-on exposure in three core areas: public administration of which they are understanding NGO governance, stakeholder engagement, and how policy translates to grassroots action, project management design where they are learning to develop logical frameworks, set SMART objectives, and align interventions with community needs and donor expectations, project management - gaining practical skills in work planning, budgeting, monitoring & evaluation, and reporting.
The interns are not just in the classroom. They are actively contributing to GYG’s flagship _Resilient Roots of Change _ intervention, implemented with DIB and CISU in Tolon and Savelugu. They are reviewing project documents, analyzing our baseline survey reports, participating in internal presentations, and supporting documentation of our climate-smart agriculture work with women farmers.
This direct exposure to R2C gives them a front-row seat to how development projects move from proposal to impact — from expanding green parks to training women household farmers in sustainable practices.
At GYG, we believe in bridging the gap between academia and practice. Political Science students bring critical thinking, policy analysis, and advocacy skills that are vital for social change. By investing in their professional growth, we are strengthening the pipeline of future development practitioners who understand both the theory and the field realities of Northern Ghana.
We are proud of the energy, curiosity, and commitment these interns have shown so far. As they present, debate, and learn within our team, they remind us that sustainable development is also about transferring knowledge to the next generation.
We look forward to the fresh perspectives they will bring to GYG over the next six weeks — and the impact they will make in their careers beyond.
