NEWIG has a vision of a society in which men and women are accorded equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities for sustainable development.

Today we join the world to celebrate International Women’s Day.

This year’s call reminds us that when we give, we all gain.

At NEWIG, we believe that investing in women is not charity—it is transformation. When women are given opportunities, skills, and the right support systems, families thrive, communities grow stronger, and societies move closer to rights, justice, and equality for all women and girls.

Through training, entrepreneurship incubation, and mentorship, NEWIG continues to create pathways for women to rise, lead, and build sustainable livelihoods.

Today, we reaffirm our commitment:
Give opportunities. Take action. Gain stronger communities.

Happy International Women’s Day 💜

🌍 Building Inclusive Trade

At NEWIG Ghana, we believe that women must not only participate in Africa’s trade future — they must help shape it.

Following our Executive Director’s participation in the recent Capacity Building Programme on Inclusive AfCFTA Implementation organized by the Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (trapca), we are even more convinced that empowering women through trade is central to achieving Africa’s development goals.

Here are some of our key reflections and next steps 👇🏽

🔹 Bridging the Knowledge Gap:
Many women-led SMEs remain unaware of AfCFTA’s opportunities. NEWIG will integrate AfCFTA literacy, trade readiness, and export procedures into our entrepreneurship and vocational training programmes.

🔹 Promoting Value Addition:
Africa’s potential lies in transforming raw materials into finished products. Through our programmes, we’ll support women in the Agricultural value chains to explore processing, packaging, and product development for regional markets.

🔹 Driving Accountability through M&E:
As part of our commitment to transparency, we are strengthening our Monitoring & Evaluation systems to measure real impact.

🔹 Owning Our Initiatives:
Inspired by AfCFTA’s call for African-led action, NEWIG is moving towards sustainable, home-grown financing models while pursuing collaborations with regional and international trade partners.

💡 The takeaway:
AfCFTA’s success depends on inclusion. When women are equipped with the right tools, knowledge, and networks, Africa’s trade story will change — from raw exports to refined opportunity.

We’re proud to be part of that transformation. 💪🏽

In partnership with NOYED-Ghana and the Linda Coffie Foundation, NEWIG has successfully trained 56 women—including 11 women living with disabilities—in the production of liquid soap and after-wash in Tamale.

This initiative reaffirms our commitment to equipping women with the practical skills they need for self-actualisation through entrepreneurship. But more importantly, it reminds us of the persistent barriers faced by women—especially those marginalized by their socio-economic realities, disabilities, or entrenched societal norms.

At NEWIG, we hold one truth dear:

"Power lies within every woman. All she needs is the support to unleash it—for herself and for her community".

🎓 Not the end—just the beginning!

After days of learning, sharing, and growing, 76 amazing women, including women living with disabilities, graduated from our skills training in Konongo.

Each received a certificate and a start-up kit to turn their new knowledge into real business ventures.

We're not just celebrating completion—we're celebrating possibility.

Our special thanks to our partner Erudite Women's Empowerment Foundation and to our major stakeholders, the beautiful women of Krofa and beyond. Also to the Member of Parliament of the Asante Akim District for his presence and donation.

🤝 When organizations with a shared purpose come together, communities thrive.

As uncertainty continues to loom in donor support, we are reminded about the power of collaboration for a shared goal.

Our collaboration with Erudite Women's Empowerment Foundation on the "Economic Inclusion of Marginalized Women in Urban Communities" project in Konongo has shown the true power of partnership.

By combining strengths, we’ve trained 76 women—including women with disabilities—in practical skills and empowered them with the resources to start businesses and support their families.

We’re proud to work alongside organizations like that share our vision for inclusive and community-led development. Here’s to doing more, together!

🧼 Hands-on learning, real-world impact!

Imagine women, young and old, including women living with disabilities, from all over Ghana being trained in hard skills like soap making after which they will be given all the tools to start and some raw material, all for free. Those are lives changed forever, and that is why at NEWIG, we do what we do.

Our training in Konongo brought energy and enthusiasm as 76 women—including women with disabilities—got hands-on with soap and after-wash making. Through practical learning, teamwork, and mentorship, beneficiaries are now equipped to start their own income-generating ventures.

We’re not just teaching skills—we’re building livelihoods. 💪🏽

"A powerful start in Konongo!"

NEWIG, in collaboration with Erudite Women's Empowerment Foundation (EWEF) and with support from The Coca-Cola Foundation, kicked off the “Economic Inclusion of Marginalized Women Living in Urban Centres” project in the Ashanti Region with a day of impactful soft skills training and a vibrant opening ceremony in Kruofa.

Women, including 17 persons living with disabilities, engaged with key institutions like SSNIT, Afram Rural Bank, and Ghana Enterprise Agency to learn about pensions, savings, and business registration.

We are building confident women, one skill at a time. 🌍✨

It’s Friday, and we’re spreading warmth where it matters most! 💛

Earlier this month, our Executive Director Mawulawoe Adjoa Awity paid a visit to the Kangaroo Care Unit at the Neonatal Department of the Tamale Teaching Hospital. As part of NEWIG’s ongoing commitment to community care and maternal health, we made a cash donation to support the incredible work being done for our tiniest warriors and their caregivers.

Every little act of kindness counts—and we are honored to contribute to the wellbeing of mothers and newborns in need. 🌼
