Strengthening community conservation starts with empowering the people at its heart.

As part of efforts under the BRACE Project to strengthen and revitalize the Achichire Surreso Pabaseman CREMA (ASP-CREMA), a one-day intensive sensitization workshop was organized for CREMA members, community leaders, and other key stakeholders.

The workshop provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on the journey of the CREMA, discuss the challenges that have affected its operations over the years, and explore practical ways of restoring its vitality and relevance within the landscape. Beyond the discussions, it was inspiring to see the enthusiasm, commitment, and renewed sense of ownership demonstrated by participants throughout the day.

Members were reminded of the important role the CREMA plays in protecting biodiversity, promoting sustainable natural resource management, and creating opportunities for community development. The interactive sessions encouraged open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collective thinking on how to build a stronger and more resilient CREMA for present and future generations.

The revitalization of ASP-CREMA is more than an environmental initiative—it is about empowering communities to take charge of their natural heritage and ensuring that conservation and livelihoods go hand in hand.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the for the funding support of the Project, through . We also recognize the invaluable partnership of and , whose collaboration and commitment continue to strengthen community resilience, environmental governance, and sustainable natural resource management across the landscape.

Eco Trend Foundation, under the BRACE Project, successfully conducted sensitization workshops for the Asuobia-Nkyirima CREMA and River Asuopiri CREMA as part of ongoing efforts to revamp and strengthen community-based natural resource governance.

The workshops provided an opportunity to raise awareness on the importance of CREMAs, promote active community participation, and reinforce the collective responsibility of conserving biodiversity and sustaining local livelihoods.

We extend our sincere appreciation to A Rocha Ghana for its technical guidance and partnership. We are equally grateful to the European Union (EU), Nature Development Foundation(NDF), and WACAM for their invaluable support towards strengthening community-led conservation initiatives in Ghana.

Together, we are building stronger CREMAs for resilient communities and healthier ecosystems.

very healthy forest begins with a single seedling and the people committed to nurturing it. During the week, the team from Eco Trend Foundation visited our nursery site to assess our readiness for the Tree for Life Initiative and support ongoing restoration efforts in the Bia North Tributary Forest Reserve. It was encouraging to see the hard work and dedication that have gone into raising healthy seedlings that will soon contribute to restoring degraded forest areas. Beyond planting trees, this initiative is about empowering communities, protecting biodiversity, and creating a greener future for generations to come. Together, we are turning small actions into lasting impact. 🌱

Strong and effective CREMAs are built through informed and empowered communities. As part of efforts to strengthen community collaboration in landscape and natural resource governance, we engaged individual Community Resource Management Committees (CRMCs) and community members within the Asuobia Nkyirima CREMA and River Asuopiri CREMA.

These sensitization visits provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of community-led action, sustainable livelihood practices, and the vital role local people play in protecting natural resources. When communities take ownership of conservation efforts, the benefits go beyond environmental protection—they contribute to more resilient local economies and healthier microclimates for future generations.

We are grateful to A Rocha Ghana for its leadership and support, and to the European Union (EU) for making this work possible. We also appreciate the continued partnership and technical guidance from the Nature Development Foundation (NDF) and WACAM as we work together towards sustainable landscape governance.
