𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙥𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙. 𝙋𝙄𝘼𝙋 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨.
Ark Development Organization had the honour of hosting the Core Assessment Team (CAT) from Plan International Ghana for our PIAP (Participatory Institutional Assessment and Planning) process; a key component of the Renewed Women's Voice and Leadership – Ghana (RWVLG) Program, implemented in partnership with Plan International Canada, NETRIGHT-Ghana, AfriYAN Ghana, and supported by Canada’s International Development – Global Affairs Canada.

We spend so much time running programs, serving communities, and chasing impact that we rarely stop to ask: Are we structured to sustain this work? Are every voice and value within our walls reflected in how we operate?

PIAP made us stop. And look. And listen. PIAP is not a formality. It is a rigorous, people-centred framework that pushes organizations to look inward, honestly and courageously. For Ark Development Organization, this process means:
👉 Getting clearer on what we do best
👉 Ensuring every team member's voice shapes our direction
👉 Building systems that outlast any single project or funding cycle

To the facilitators: thank you for holding space for this reflection. The communities we serve deserve more than good intentions, they deserve an organization that is built to last.

Imagine walking 4 miles just to fill a single bucket. Or, imagine having to choose between your daily bread and paying 40 Cedis to a motor rider just to have water delivered. This was the daily reality for the people of Sekesua Trawa and Prekumasi Agbom.

Today, that chapter is closed.
Ark Development Organization, in proud partnership with the Australian High Commission, Ghana, has commissioned and handed over mechanized boreholes to both communities.

No more long treks. No more high costs. Just clean, safe water right where it belongs, at the heart of the village. We aren’t just providing water; we’re restoring time, health, and dignity.

𝙊𝙣𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙙. 𝙀𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙. 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮.
Last week, Ark Development Organization team travelled to Ho for an intensive onboarding session as part of the Renewed Women's Voice and Leadership – Ghana (RWVLG) Program implemented by Plan International Ghana in partnership with Plan International Canada, NETRIGHT-Ghana, and AfriYAN Ghana, with support from Global Affairs Canada.

It was a week that reminded us of exactly why we do this work.

Across the sessions, we engaged in deep strategic thinking, built connections with fellow grantees who share our vision, and mapped out the road ahead. The energy in that room was undeniable, a room full of people committed to dismantling the barriers that hold women and girls back.

We return home with renewed clarity, stronger partnerships, and an unshakeable determination to build communities where every woman and girl has an equal voice, equal opportunity, and equal power.

The journey has just begun and we are ready.

"We are not statistics. We are your neighbours. We are your family. And we are tired of being forgotten."

Last week, at , advocates (made up of PLWSNTDs and caregivers) trained by Ark Development Organization with support from Fundación Anesvad broke their silence and they did not hold back.

They spoke of sleepless nights, empty pockets, and the anguish of watching a loved one suffer from a skin Neglected Tropical Disease while help feels impossibly out of reach. They described the shame society places on the sick, and the added burden families carry alone. These are not abstract problems. These are real lives, precious Ghanaian lives, being diminished by a disease the system has chosen to "neglect."

The advocates have one message for our government: We are not asking for sympathy. We are asking for action. Fund community healthcare. Train local workers on . Get resources to the grassroots.

The power to change these lives sits in the hands of anyone who believes NTDs can be eliminated. The voices of those who suffer are no longer silent.

Imagine sitting by a radio and hearing someone describe your life; your daily reality living with Skin-NTDs, spoken out loud for the first time.

That happened today on Fawe FM. 🎙️
Ark Development Organization brought people living with Skin-NTDs and their caregivers to the forefront of advocacy, letting them share their personal stories on air and speak for the change they need.

No intermediaries. No filtered narratives. Just truth, courage, and community. This is the kind of advocacy that moves hearts and moves policy.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙙? 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧?
We went back. We listened. And communities told us: change has happened.

At Ark Development Organization, our work doesn't end at project closeout. We return to communities to evaluate what truly made a difference and what we can do better. For the Enhancing WASH for Community Health project, supported by the Australian High Commission, Ghana, communities spoke and the results reflect real, meaningful change.

The communities responded with openness, and what they shared confirms it: real change has taken place. Cleaner water. Better sanitation. Healthier lives.

We ask "What worked?" and "What could be improved?" because accountability is not optional, it is the foundation of sustainable development. Perhaps, the most notable thing we did was that we were intentional with our asking; we asked women, children, community leaders, men and WATSAN Committees.

This is our commitment: development that listens, learns, and grows.

In Upper Manya Krobo District, individuals living with lymphatic filariasis are discovering that they don't have to face this journey alone.

Thanks to the Empowering Communities for the Elimination of Skin NTDs project, a collaboration between Ark Development Organization, the District Health Management Team, and Fundación Anesvad, persons living with lymphatic filariasis and their caregivers are receiving:
🤝 Training on proper care techniques
🧰 Essential tools for managing their condition
📚 Educational materials (pictorial demonstrations for easy understanding)
💙 A network of support and understanding

Because everyone deserves the knowledge and resources to live their fullest life. Together, we're not just treating a disease, we're restoring dignity and hope.

We had an insightful session at Trust FM, educating our community on Skin NTDs as part of the Empowering Communities for the Elimination of Skin NTDs project. With support from Fundación Anesvad, Ark Development Organization is using the airwaves to break the silence and end the stigma surrounding skin diseases.

At Ark Development Organization, our Children-Led WASH Champions Initiative supported by Fundación Anesvad is proving that the most powerful health advocates aren't always adults, they're the young people living in the communities we serve.

At our recent Children-Led WASH Champions Initiative showcase, Anomasa's WASH Club walked in as underdogs. No fancy tech. No elaborate presentations. Just pure, focused determination—and students who were already doing the work. Their opening move? Demonstrating that they'd already trained peers on proper tippy tap techniques. Not planning to train. Not proposing to train. Already training. Already showing results.

Why Children? Here's What the Evidence Shows:
🎯 Habit Formation Power: Young minds adopt hygiene practices that last 60+ years, not 6 months
🎯 The Multiplier Effect: One trained child influences 2-4 siblings, 2 parents, and 5-8 peers = 9-14 people transformed per champion
