At Asaasiam Vision International, we’re changing that with sanitary pads, school supplies, mentorship and community engagement, so every girl can stay in school and thrive.

In the Let Girls Excel Africa program, girls are putting their dreams on paper: their goals, their fears, and their plans for the future. Each sticky note is a reminder that when a girl is heard, she can lead.

Through this program, Asaasiam Vision International is walking alongside girls in Ghana as they grow in confidence, stay in school, and shape their own stories. Beyond the classroom, we’re dreaming of a safe space where more girls can learn and thrive.

Vision boards start with a simple question: What do I want my future to look like?

At Oda MA Basic School in Ghana’s Eastern Region, students put their dreams on paper, one sticky note at a time. Every note on that board is a goal, a hope, and a promise to themselves, and the pride on their faces says it all.

At Asaasiam Vision International, we believe every child deserves the tools and encouragement to dream big and work toward it. Education is where that journey begins.

In many African communities, childhood trauma is endured in silence — often dismissed as “children are resilient.” But Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) shape mental health, general lifestyle both at the childhood stage and its effects transitions into the adulthood stage of life.

At Asaasiam Vision International, we believe that changing outcomes starts with changing understanding. During one of our teacher training sessions in the Eastern Region of Ghana, at Oda, expert trainer Donald Didier led our team through an ACEs training, equipping our facilitators and teachers to recognize, respond to, and prevent childhood trauma — part of our broader impact on children, youth, and the community.

Protecting children takes more than good intentions. It takes trained eyes and informed communities and we at Asaasiam Vision International are building this capacity from the ground up.

Through Let Girls Excel Africa, an initiative of Asaasiam Vision International, we are creating opportunities for girls in underserved communities to find their voices, develop leadership skills, strengthen their knowledge and make informed choices about their futures.

The smiles, conversations and reflections we see in these sessions remind us that empowerment begins when girls are given the space to speak, be heard and believe in what is possible.

We are committed to walking alongside these girls—not just for today, but as they grow into confident young women who can shape their communities and their futures.

There's a moment in every Let Girls Excel Africa session that doesn't make it into the affirmations — it's the guidance behind them.

Before our girls pick up a pen, someone is in the room helping them find the words. Listening. Making sure each girl's affirmation is actually hers, not something borrowed.

That's the part of this work people don't always see: the mentorship happening in real time, session after session, long before a girl feels ready to say "I am capable" and mean it.

The affirmations are the output. The growth and confidence we're building in the girls, the initial and ongoing impact we are making session by session, are the real investment.

During our Let Girls Excel Africa sessions ,our girls do not just listen, they voice out.
Working together, they wrote out their own affirmations of self-belief, resilience, and purpose:

✨ “I am proud of who I am and what I can become.”
✨ “I will stay focused on my dreams and not let setbacks stop me.”

These aren’t just words on a pink cardboard paper — they’re the mindset we’re building session by session.

In addition to the numerous impacts, Our Let Girls Excel Africa program equips girls with the confidence and self-worth to lead their own futures.

These girls have great leadership potentials and our role is to make sure we nurture and support their development and growth 💗

📉 In Ghana, 1 in 4 girls drop out before completing Junior High School.

Over 1.2 million children of primary and JHS age are currently out of school, and girls carry a disproportionate share of that burden. Teenage pregnancy remains the leading cause of dropout for girls at the JHS/SHS level, and on average, a Ghanaian girl spends just 4 years in school before poverty, early marriage, or a lack of basic learning resources pushes her out.

Behind every one of these numbers is a girl whose potential the system failed to protect.

Through our “Let Girls Excel Africa” program, Asaasiam Vision International is working to close this gap — one girl, one school, one resource at a time. This outreach provided essential learning materials directly to girls in school, removing one more barrier between them and their education.

This work is made possible through the continued partnership and generous support of the Akuraase Foundation, whose commitment strengthens our ability to reach more girls, in more communities, with the resources they need to stay in school and thrive.

Investing in a girl’s education doesn’t just change her future — it changes her community’s.

Today, on Women’s Equality Day, this is what equality in progress looks like — girls in a Let Girls Excel Africa session, hands up, voices ready, eager to be heard.

Through our seven pillars — Education, Health, Career Mentoring, Counselling, Leadership Training, Community Engagement, and Vocational Skills — we’re helping deprived girls in underserved communities in Ghana believe their voice matters, in the classroom and beyond.

Equality isn’t a someday goal. It starts with the girl who was supported to raise her hand.
