Brief history of all Nations Charity Home By Rev. Philip Kwasi Nyamekye

The All Nations' Charity Home was started in August 1992, as All Nations' International School from Kentinkrono and later moved to Ayigya. The International school started from nursery, kindergarten and class one pupils with three qualified teachers and a pupil population of about 60. The All Nations' International School is

now All Nations' Charity Home. During my routine dawn prayers as a Reverend Minister, I had a vision and a voice from afar telling me to go to an orphange and help the less-privileged, destitute and street children in society by offering them free education, food, clothing, shelter and other basic human necessities. This continued for about three years because I was thinking of how to start the project with the meagre financial resources. Finally, in September 1998, I started with nine children on a pilot basis and I am glad to mention that after their basic education four of them have relocated to their family members and left the home for their respective towns. Five of them have stayed and apprenticed in trades of their choice, three of them are drivers and two are shoe makers. In spite of all associated difficulties, I did not give up. I was inspired by the following quotation from the Holy Book in Gal 2:10 ' all they ask was that you must help the poor, the very thing I was eager to do". In 2003 I contacted some notable personalities who agreed to assist me to run the Home. In this direction, the Board of Directors was constituted and the Home was formally registered with the Department of Social Welfare and the Registrar's General Department as regulations demands. Permit me to use this platform to "salute" the Board of Directors for their unflinching support. The home is run with resources from my cocoa farm, contribution of the Board of Directors and donations from churches, associations and individuals. It may interest you to know that, by the grace of The Lord, there are 45 children in the Home under our care. Out of this number 5 just completed SHS and will be entering University or Polytechnics next year. 3 have also just completed JHS, and they wrote their final examinations recently. 2 are in SS, 4 in JHS and 31 are in primary school. Apart from those in residence, 9 are in foster homes and the Home takes care of their school fees and other logistics. Caring for the less-privileged, destitutes, and street children in society is a collective responsibility. Therefore we must all come together to help them to enable them to fulfil their God given ambitions.
